Sounds like a good idea to me.
Acronym titles are bad. Swap.
An Ear Worm is like a Rickroll: It is never going to give you up.Yes, swap for consistency, clarity, and removal of acronym.
I'm bad, and that's good. I will never be good, and that's not bad. There's no one I'd rather be than me.I thought PVE was Player Vs Enemy?
Anyway, I agree that acronyms are not good for trope names.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!+1 for the rename.
Agreed, acronyms can be pretty opaque unless one knows what it stands for.
Sounds good to me.

Oppression anywhere is a threat to democracy everywhere..+1. Player Versus Player is already expanded by default, so they should be consistant.

Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan. Please switch. I wish I knew why people submit acronym-named tropes in the first place...
Swich that. What are we waiting for?
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanThe Internet misuses, abuses, and overuses everything.
Did anyone noticed that 'PVE' is the acceptable term for the trope. And the most used definition of the acronym, according to Google. I vote to keep.
The artcile do have serious problems, of course. It is a stub with only the minimum 3 examples. Did it even went trough the YKTTW?
While the acronym isn't entirely wrong, it seems a whole lot simpler to me to just switch with Player Versus Environment. You improve clarity without really changing the name all that much.
Also, the page itself needs work. How is it that there are 74 wicks, but only three examples on the main page? That seems really backwards to me.
Edit PS: Also, common practice on other wiki's seems to be to spell it out.

Anyone who isn't familar with video gaming may not recognize the acronym or know what it means. It doesn't contain swearwords like BFS, BFG, and GIFT.
Oppression anywhere is a threat to democracy everywhere. It's one of the most recognisable gaming terms, but outside that, not so much. I take it most people who visit this site has enough knowledge to understand it, but I still wouldn't count it as common knowledge.
The Internet misuses, abuses, and overuses everything.I've never heard this trope called Player Versus Enviroment. I've heard Player Versus Everyone and Player Versus Everything though. The fact that the acronym is standardized but what it stands for is not is a problem for trying to name the trope after an expansion of it.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickThose could always be redirects. They should probably be redirects whether or not a name switch happens.
Oppression anywhere is a threat to democracy everywhere.I don't think we can keep the acronym since Everything You Wanted To Know About Changing Names makes it a general rule to avoid it unless it has a swear in it (which it doesn't).
The question I'm asking now is are we sure we should go with Player Versus Environment? Judging by some quick searches and a little bit of my own experience (neither of which are that good of sources to be honest) it seems the most popular terms are Player Versus Environment, Player Versus Enemy, Player Versus Everyone, and Player Versus Monster.
"Enemy" and "Everyone" don't make the NPC-to-Player distinction enough in my opinion. Player Versus Monster seems a bit more clear that Player Versus Environment, but it really only applies to fantasy MMOs, while Player Versus Environment can fit in a lot more places.

I've only heard Player Vs Everyone as a running joke about Eve Online...which is very appropriate for the nature of the game, but generally said with the tongue in cheek knowledge that it usualy means "environment".
The thing is, though, that Player Vs Environment is really not the same thing as Player Vs Everyone, so in that case we should rename the trope because not everybody is clear on what the acronym means. We had the same problem with PWP, which could mean both Porn with Plot and Porn Without Plot.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!I'm not a gamer, but to me the name Player Versus Everyone implies a great deal of Player Versus Player, not the lack of it.
Oppression anywhere is a threat to democracy everywhere.Player Versus Environment can also be against nature in general. If the goal is just to survive, with no real enemies, it still fits the trope. UnReal World is a great example, as are many games set on a deserted island.

Crown Description:
Vote up for yes, down for no.
PvE may need to be renamed into "Player Versus Environment" (which is currently a redirect). It's an acronym, and it also doesn't correspond with the Player Versus Player sister trope, which is fully spelled out.
