^ They've done a bit better about reconciling two different styles in Generations.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain. That's more two different versions of the same style. Namely, speed.
Sonic is all about getting to the goal as fast as possible. Mega Man is a run-and-gun, where you stop and kill the enemies before going on. I honestly don't know what Pac-Man is like as a platformer, and he's not really a platformer character, anyway.
I'd think Klonoa would be most likely platformer representative from Namco.
^^ Speed isn't the only aspect to platforming design, actually. Most designers take into account vertical and horizontal motion, as well as tricky aspects and challenges based off of nuances in gameplay.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.I think Bad Wolf's point is that Sega still hasn't done much in terms of reconciling the playstyles of Mario and Sonic. Colors and Generations are much more varied than pretty much any other game (barring the Adventure titles) in the Sonic series, but it all comes from the basic idea of "shoot for the goal as fast as possible." Mario doesn't quite operate by the exact same standards.
"Oh no, Sanji's Chronic Simprosis!" - Kou The MadMore to the point, it's much more difficult to reconcile differences for platforming styles than most other genres, since platforming is heavily based on level design
A racing game would work in theory, but it'd be very polarising in practice. Primarily among SEGA (read;Sonic)'s fanbase
Fan Dumb aside, a lot of people did legitimately enjoy Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing, some even going as far as to say that it was better than Mario Kart.
"Oh no, Sanji's Chronic Simprosis!" - Kou The MadIncluding yours truly. Better than every Mario Kart I've played except Double Dash. It's legitimately a great game, though I can understand why it's easy to (unfairly) write it off a Mario Kart rip off.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain. It's still a risky idea. I mean, yeah, some of us would be reasonable (and I myself would know full well that it's for balance reasons, and S Onic is presumably a good sport when he needs to be). But, we know what the Sonic fanbase is overall.
Unfortunately. I mean, there are still people out there losing their hair over why Sonic is in a go-kart.
"Oh no, Sanji's Chronic Simprosis!" - Kou The MadI wonder If Cyber Connect 2 will get any involvement. I mean, they do work for Both Capcom AND Namco Bandai now.
Watch SymphogearSeems unlikely. They're not second-party developers for either company; they've just collaborated with them once each.
"Oh no, Sanji's Chronic Simprosis!" - Kou The MadWhich is why Asura has very little chance to show up in MVC3.
Anyone brought up the party-game option yet?
Not to mention that his game wasn't even out yet when either MvC3 or Ultimate was released.
And no, I don't think that's been brought up as an option yet.
"Oh no, Sanji's Chronic Simprosis!" - Kou The MadParty game? Huh... I didn't think of that one. I'd rather see an RPG or even a platformer, though...
Aw, Klonoa. I forgot about him. <3
I liked it better when Questionable Casting was called WTH Casting AgencyThe website makes it feel like it involves something biological.
I dont think its going to be the crossover we all want.
Sonic:Digimon Tamer?
I am completely, utterly, and thoroughly done with Sola Sonica and 2DIt'll be a cross-company Dating Sim where you learn about the joys of childbirth.
"Oh no, Sanji's Chronic Simprosis!" - Kou The MadYou know what Namco could do to fill the old school quota?
Dig Dug and Mr Driller!
Cyber Connect 2 could always have their music director, Chikayo Fukuda, join this project for the OST.
Just listen to this gem:
Glorious.
Watch SymphogearThat's assuming Capcom actually wants CC2 to help. They've got plenty of talented composers in-house, after all.
"Oh no, Sanji's Chronic Simprosis!" - Kou The Mad@X 2 X If tht's true... I love this game. I'm gonna pimp Amy, Cream, Balze, Rouge, Renamon, and Kazemon if that's true.
I am completely, utterly, and thoroughly done with Sola Sonica and 2D...Anyway...
Assuming a Namco X Capcom-esque crossover, what characters from Sega do you think will be added to the mix?
Sega themselves weren't able to reconcile two different kinds of platforming for a Mario and Sonic crossover (which is why they are at the Olympics, instead). I doubt four companies could get a platformer that works with Sonic, Mega Man, and...um...Pac-Man, I guess? He had platformers at some point, right?
