Picked this up, and been having some fun with it, but good lord it is pissing me the fuck off at times with the cheating bastard RNG. I save scum like a motherfucker, though, in retaliation. Way I see it, game wants to cheat, I'm gonna cheat right back.

I mean, I get that it's big. But even Baldur's Gate 2 was, like... ten gigs, max.

I'm enjoying it so far. Ammo is ridiculously scarce, even though I made sure to take the mission that would give me more. It's kind of difficult trying to figure out where the gaps in radiation are to get to a destination safely, so much that I actually thought I couldn't get to the next quest for some reason.

^^Cheating rng? Umm, what

<_< How bad skills you have if you need to save scum that much? You have 50 percent chance to hit or something? ._. Because rng doesn't cheat

I highest chance to hit I've yet to get with a weapon was, like, 70%

Which may be intentional, but it also may feel like cheating. And there are a few skill checks early on that made me wonder at how on Earth you were supposed to have skills high enough to not make them explode.

Yeaaaaaaaah, not sure what you are talking about <_< Unless they changed things that radically since beta, I guess you guys are just unaware of optimal ranges for weapons.

Also, what explosions? If you are talking about RNC, that place isn't something you are supposed to go to in early game even though nothing is preventing it

If you fail to disarm a trap, or unlock a computer safe, they have a chance to explode.

And no, I was totally at optimal range, and the maximum chance I can find is still around 70%

Hmm, what are your coordination and skill levels then?

What location are you talking about anyway? I don't think ag and highpool had many trapped chests

I've only been to Highpool, but I can only assume it gets worse as you go.

And don't think I'm complaining, either. Just stating that it's a thing in the game.

Man, they do a damn good job of making you feel bad in this game.

I assume there's no way to save both Ag Center and Highpool?

Restarted my playthrough a few weeks back and man I'm doing so much better. Made my second ranger a tall Russian chick with heavy weapons skills, and she mows through enemies. Also gave my medic smg skills and she puts the combat back in "combat medic".

Right now I'm at the Titan canyon place.

Necromancy

I have bought the Wasteland 2, and now I'm stuck in the deepest bowels of character creation Heaven-Hell. So many options, I may never actually play the game.

EDIT

About two hours later, I've successfully made a character! I had the mad idea of making my new gnome mage from World Of Warcraft. So I made Professor Heatsink, a Deadpan Snarker Cold Sniper—an accredited professor in sniperolgy. No one has any idea where she got a diploma or her thing with the toasters...

I have to say, absolutely loving the game so far save for one thing: one of my characters is basically useless. I gave her manic-depressive which basically counts as a near-permanent debuff— instead of cycling between normal, buffed, and debuffed, she just remains in the penalized state about 85% of the time. She perks up when absolutely nothing is happening, like when I'm shopping. Especially because the second NPC I found, Vulture's Cry, is basically the same character but with a sniper rifle instead of a shotgun.

Not impressed with said shotgun so far, but then again she's always suffering penalties to everything.

Guess one final bump to see if anyone is going to join in.

Anyone have any advice for the Prison? I'm trying to be a good Ranger and not just blindly start a war with the RSM. I'm post Demonta and there doesn't appear to be any way to diplomatically reach the prison or sneak past—just huge squads of men I have to mow down.

Is there anything that automatically flags you as hostile with them? Or do I need to slaughter worthless mooks until I get to somebody who can be reasoned with?

Prison being the Rangers' former home with 'taxes' and the fuck shack?

If you want to kill them all, nothing is stopping you from that. Except two nigh-unkillable turrets in the final building of the area, but that problem is solved in Damonta, apparently.

I aggroed the RSM after dialogue ended, so sorry to say I can't help you there.

Is this game's leveling cirve absolutely stupid, or is this how it was meant to be played? The post-Canyon of Titan random encounters are absolute shit.

Whoa, conversation!

Yeah, I'm done with the Prison now. I fought my way through until I had a chance to speak with Danforth. I resolved it as peacefully as possible, just wasn't sure if fighting to that point was going to make things worse.

Started my evil run-through and went to Ag Center this time. Had a good laugh as I dealt with a horde of giant rabbits by fragging my own team with a pipe bomb. We had the HP to shrug it off.

I am hoping that high social skills will let me manipulate people in the name of being an asshole, rather than being the nice-guy solution to everything.

You can speak peacefully with Danforth? I have a conservative Christian leader whose shit at everything except talking and leading. The option to talk peacefully never popped up. Huh...

All of the silver-tongued dialouge options in the first half are mostly good guy solutions. Maybe that sort of branches out later on?

I really dig the little Titan Canyon story. Both sides are equally screwed up, and whichever one you choose depends on which evil is the lesser one. The Followers Of Titan are suicidal, their escort system is beyond flawed, and they are all generally insane. The Diamondback Militia seem like the best solution, but man are they massive cunts.

Finally finished the game. I lost my medic in the final battle because...she was the medic and nobody could stabilize her or access her inventory. Annoying but it actually felt like a worthwhile death in battle.

Jefe Grande, my Mexican Big Boss stayed behind instead of Vargas. Because Desert Rangers are fucking self-sacrificing heroes.

The "betrayal" of Lexicanum sucked. He could have saved Doc Phoenix and we had to gun him down. Poor bastard. Should have used his robot arm to slap the button so he'd get to kill the Cochise AI for destroying him.

I actually gave a Big "NO!" when I saw the ending card for Chisel, dropping dead a week later of a heart attack opening a pickle jar. That man needs a state funeral and fucking poetic epics written for him.

Salute your heroes!

This may be of some interest to you guys. You're getting a sequel.

https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2016/09/28/wasteland-3-announced-crowdfunding-once-again

inXile Entertainment’s RPG Wasteland 2 revived a long-dead post-apocalyptic world with the help of crowdfunding, and now they’re trying to return there. The studio today announced Wasteland 3, and it’s no surprise that they’re crowdfunding it again. They want to take the heroic Desert Rangers to frozen Colorado this time, giving them new toys like vehicles and an interesting take on cooperative multiplayer. They’re taking their crowdfunding to a new locale too, planning to launch a Fig campaign in October.

So it was for entertaining variety? All right I guess, just seems kinda contradictory to the real point to me though.

Will the combat be less depressing? I hope the combat will be less depressing.
