So only one track per franchise. That's pretty cool, though I hope they're going to be using a lot of I Ps, including ones not in the game.

In terms of stage decision, it might kind of put a nick in what I was just thinking, though. Since boating, flying and driving all apparently have different physics, it might not be such a bad idea to have stages dedicated solely to one of those three and not transforming (say, one specifically driving, one specifically flying, and one specifically on water).

But since every IP has but one track, that might mean they're going to pick and design areas that showcase the IP best, rather than having them be necessarily specified one way or another.

Which is a shame, because a Sky Chase/Fortress/Adventure and/or Unleashed Air Stage based stage would be pretty cool. And I've always wanted a racing game to have a stage based on Sonic 2's special stage.

Speaking of Sonic, though, it does look like they're saving the reveal of his stage for last, doesn't it? I wonder if the Sonic series is going to have multiple stages anyway (having had three times the amount of stages of the others in the first one).

JOE MUSHASHI?

Dude...this is incredible. That's how you win. If Joe gets a track, they should use an arrangement of this theme.

If we end up with the jet ski stage like X mentioned, that'll be a nice theme too. Shinobi has a lot of good tunes to choose from.

Found it. If the jet ski level and "Whirlwind" make it in, it'd be pretty awesome.

So would (going primarily by stage BGMs) "Japonesque," "Idaten," and "Solitary" from III.

I'm a little disappointed that they didn't have Musashi riding a horse, which turns into a plane and a boat... somehow.

This isn't Sengoku Basara with its pseudo-motorbike horses and giant mecha, Known. I don't quite think Idaten can do that in III. tongue

He probably could have jacked one of those vehicles the Neo Zeed mooks were riding in the water stages, though.

Considering how many people disliked the Time Eater, I'm not sure that'd be a good idea.

Actually, Generations gives me an idea: three Sonic stages: one Classic Era stage, one Adventure Era stage, and one Modern Era stage.

Maybe:

  • Classic: Green Hill Zone (I like Green Hill, but it'd be nice if it were something else. Still you know it's always going to be Green Hill. Plus, with it's huge spanning cliffs and waterfalls and such, it has a good Water/Land/Sea possibility)

The rest I'm still thinking of.

Still a Generations stage would be an interesting single Sonic stage: instead of driving in separate areas the stage warps at several intervals to wildly different zones throughout the series (think the first Samba De Amigo stage in the first game, with the warp points going to different Sonic settings).

@X2X: Eh, fans disliking 2006 didn't stop them from including Crisis City in Generations. tongue Think of it as another chance for them to redo something that didn't work well the last time around. Plus, I figured the time tunnel in that boss fight would make for a good flying area - not to mention the 'time void' setting in general fitting the whole 'bleaker as you progress' setup the Sumo guys seem to be following this time.

To be honest, I'll be suprised if Sonic doesn't get more than one stage. I like the Classic/Adventure/Modern idea though.

  • Classic - Green Hill is pretty much the perfect stage for Land/Sea/Air shennanigans as mentioned above.
  • Adventure - There are three real possibillities for this one:
    • Station Square - Starts off fairly normal, until Perfect Chaos starts rampaging in the 2nd lap.
    • Space Colony Ark - The track would be situated along the exterior, with the crumbling walkways from Shadow the Hedgehog signaling the start of the flying section. As the race goes on it would get closer and closer to Earth, with the same kind of atmospheric reentry effect as in the final boss of Adventure 2.
    • Egg Fleet - Because fuck yeah Egg Fleet. I was already super disapointed that the original All-Stars Racing didn't include a track based on this stage or even it's BGM at least.
  • Modern - Planet Wisp, I guess? I'm not really familiar with the modern titles.

On a another note, anyone else think it would be cool if Sumo did a Dojo (Pit Stop?) site for this game?

Well, discounting the time travel nostalgia fest that was Generations, Modern would include '06, Unleashed, and Colors.

So, that would give us these choices:

  • '06: Wave Ocean, Kingdom Valley, Dusty Desert, White Acropolis, Crisis City, Flame Core, Radical Train, Tropical Jungle, Aquatic Base, End of the World
  • Unleashed: Apotos, Holoska, Spagonia, Chun-Nan, Mazuri, Shamar, Adabat, Empire City, Eggmanland
  • Colors: Tropical Resort, Starlight Carnival, Sweet Mountain, Planet Wisp, Aquarium Park, Asteroid Coaster, Terminal Velocity

And none of this is even factoring in the handhelds. That means there are plenty of feasible stages to use.

No green hill again, please no. I'm so tired of Green hill.

It's probably going to be stardust speedway. That's my guess.

@ X: According to the page for it, the Golden Axe game before the PS3 game was 94, the actual year I was born, so of course I wouldn't have heard of it. tongue

As for JSR, I never had a Dreamcast or original Xbox. I wanna play JSR after looking it up, though.

At least JSR getting a PSN port means I can get it at some point.

As for the guy in the trailer, I believe that's Vyse from Skies Of Arcadia.

It would be cool if there was like a theme mash-up track for any IPs that don't get in otherwise.

And maybe another villain or two than just Eggman and the Bonanza Bros.

Has anyone else noticed that everyone except Sonic has a new vehicle?
