Wut
Seriously, they may not be technically impressive, but the style, man. The style.

"The world ends with you. If you want to enjoy life, expand your world. You gotta push your horizons out as far as they'll go."Lot of disdain for Dragon Age 2. The game wasn't bad, but I'll admit it was a slight step down from Origins.
I'm all talked out about the winners and "winners", but I must say the production qualities were top-notch. I wouldn't say I expected something as bad as the mocking intro segment, but still I was wowed by the whole thing.
Major props.
Glad to know /v/ hated Dragon Age 2 as much as I did...
I liked how /v/ criticized reddit's video game awards for praising Bastion, Portal 2, and Skyrim for every category when they do the same thing.
I also enjoyed some of the other subtle /v/ jokes (Skyrim theme loudly playing while someone draws a guard in Paint, Christain Bale doing the "dubs" pose, etc).
Tim Buckley enjoys the game and sucks Bioware's dick at every instance. That's one factor as to why /v/ hates DA2.

Who's Tim Buckley?
/v/ didn't. They hated these awards precisely because of that. They are PISSED that they are basically Reddit.
I thought it was alright. I didn't like Portal 2 sweeping though. It was a good game but not GOTY.
Author of B^U
And /v/ hates Dragon Age 2 (And Bioware mostly) with a passion due to it taking a decent RPG that hearkened to the older days of RPG and making a lousy lazy console port with terrible writing, graphics, characters, and gameplay.

Wait, so something that was based off of /v/ happened pointing that out, and /v/ didn't like it??
Alt account of Angeldog 2437.More common than you think.
Fantastic Supreme Überkaiser Emperor Folt of The Infinity and Beyond" ... "The First"!
It basically showed /v/ they are Not So Different from Reddit, which is a MAJOR Berserk Button for /v/

What was the point of showing footage of the Titanic sinking over the folks from Bioware gushing over The Old Republic?
Because /v/'s nickname for TOR is the "TORtanic"
Many many threads have been made laughing at the faults of TOR as well as the community (hence the Biodrones winning) and comparisons to the Titanic.

I never will understand the mentality that makes one bash something they didn't quite enjoy on the internet...
and Oh.
That's sad, I think.

Alt account of Angeldog 2437.
Because for many people complaining is just how we do things. Its how we vent. And I sometimes find it fun (like bitching about TOR. Tortanic threads were great fun, just a bunch of people laughing)
We're cynical as fuck. I dont understand how people can just blindly praise everything either or just want to talk about good things.
This no complaint threads here sometimes kills me.

I don't hang out in /v/ much. I prefer here, 8-)
I like them both.
I go here when I want semi serious conversations but I like having quick topics on /v/ (image reactions are fun too)
Not to mention I can openly be negative there.
Negative can get real old real quick, though.
Hell look at Annebeeche's spinoff site. Place is a viper pit.
Never heard of it.
And it does get old at times, which is why I go here too.
But /v/ has many positive threads too. A great Tribes community (That beat Reddit, which /v/ took GREAT pride in) for example. Not to mention Dark Souls
Oh man, it's rumored/said that Hi-Rez browses /v/. After all, there's that "GOTTA GO FAST" cheat code you can put into Tribes: Ascend.
"Hipsters: the most dangerous gang in the US." - Pacific MackerelI think they should worked out a different voting system. The way it worked was that you had to sign in through Steam to vote. Almost all Steam users like Valve, so that gave them an edge, leading to really odd outcomes like Portal 2 beating Arkham City for both voice acting awards. Don't know about why Bastion won so much though. Fun game, but its aesthetics weren't THAT great.
EDIT: Don't know why Portal 2 got the Planescape Award either. It's really damn funny, especially Cave Johnson, but it doesn't really have any actual themes, so it isn't exactly in the same realm as "What can change the nature of a man?" The Witcher 2 just can't catch a break huh?
