Not sure what to say about the current image. The DKC 2 example actually is of red-hot water, and not your standard videogame lava.

Maybe something from a Metroid game?

That being the case, we definitely need a new pic.

Indeed. I like the second suggestion better.

I'd prefer the pic from Super Metroid, both for quality and because there's an enemy swimming in the lava.

Though I'd like a pic with Samus jumping around in the lava. I couldn't find one on a search, though.

The Internet misuses, abuses, and overuses everything.

Neither could I. Give me an emulator and a few hours and I could probably snag a fresh one, though.

Or for an alternate caption: "Whatever that suit's made of must have a higher melting point than the constituents of that lava. And an incredibly low thermal conductivity."

I like the 2nd picture, actually.

[up][up] There are several absurd elements of the Lava Is Boiling Kool-Aid convention besides its heat (such as it being melted rock with a consistency, depending on temperature and mineral composition, approximately like wet concrete). The considerations in that caption would help if it is boiling Kool-Aid.

The heat aspect specifically is Convection, Schmonvection.

Just chiming in to say I could barely tell Samus was in there even with advanced knowledge.

The sad, REAL American dichotomy
