^ I'm inclined to disagree, in that I think the Durarara example fits the patterns involved despite having three crazies.
So, how much longer do we leave the crowner open? I'd like to see a little more turnout, but I'm not sure how much I can expect.
That's Feo . . . He's a disgusting, mysoginistic, paedophilic asshat who moonlights as a shitty writer—Something AwfulUmmm, usually we need a 2:1 ratio...and even if we overrode that, the difference between the leading options is very small.
"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerOf course it does. Nobody is suggesting three crazy people isn't an example of the trope; I'm just saying that whether the person caught in the middle is themself crazy is irrelevant to the trope.
Well, we've got a 4:1 ratio. I'm not convinced Psychotic Love Triangle is the best choice, but it's at least reasonably clear. Are we done here?
(If I'm jumping the gun, I'm sorry—this is my first rename crowner, and I'm not sure of proper procedure. I'd like to get this dealt with so I can move on to other projects.)
That's Feo . . . He's a disgusting, mysoginistic, paedophilic asshat who moonlights as a shitty writer—Something AwfulThe ratio is excellent; I'm less certain if the total number of votes is high enough. Any mods (or just more experienced types) want to chime in?
Well, that option has been on the crowner for three days, which is the minimum time crowners are supposed to be open. There's no harm in waiting a little longer, but I think it has enough votes.
I really prefer at least 15 votes. It can stay open a hair longer.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickI think it can be called now. It has quite a few votes.
"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerAh, I think I see where the disagreement lies - whether or not there's someone 'in the middle'. I think Triang Relations would argue against that, but let's suppose it works.
Take a hypothetical case wherein the 'person in the middle' is yandere, and one of his/her two love interests is yandere, but the other love interest isn't. That would undoubtedly qualify as a Psychotic Love Triangle, but it would not be Caught Between Two Crazies.
And, as mentioned before, Caught Between Two Crazies gives no indication that this is a romance trope.
The Revolution Will Not Be TropeableI don't agree that this would be an example, no matter what we name the trope. Like I said before, "Love Triangle where two or more members have personality trait X" is People Sit On Chairs. If X is common enough you'll certainly be able to find examples, but there's no pattern and hence no trope. On the other hand, somebody who's attracted the attention of two psychotically jealous suitors, with the obvious difficulties that proposes, is a trope.
If the name Psychotic Love Triangle leads people to think the trope should be any love triangle that includes psychos, that's a point against in my opinion.
True; that's why I added Caught Between Crazed Lovers.
""Love Triangle where two or more members have personality trait X" is People Sit On Chairs."
But "Love Triangle where two or more members have personality trait X that is potentially fatal and creates lots of drama, especially when there's a Romantic Rival involved" sounds like a trope to me. I don't agree that the "normal" person has to be in the middle. Heck, all three of them could be yandere.

Calling someone a pedant is an automatic Insult Backfire. Real pedants will be flattered.Right, exactly. Akise-Yukiteru-Yuno to use a random but non-hypothetical example, doesn't suddenly stop being a psychotic love triangle if the story is told from Akise's perspective instead. All the inherent drama and associated problems and risks are still there.
On a side note, I think you're misusing People Sit On Chairs. If 'Love triangle where two or more members have personality trait X' were 'People Sit On Chairs', Love Triangle would be as well. What you mean to say is that it's not a distinct trope from Love Triangle.

The Revolution Will Not Be TropeableThere has been a request to call the crowner, clocking the page.
Calling crowner. Meant to do it last night. Go ahead and do the swap.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickWicks are clean (courtesy of Septimus). I think we can close now.
"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - Fighteer^ Yo, I got the wicks and the page. I've also cutlisted the old laconic after lu127 made the new one, updated Renamed Tropes and the FAQ thread.
Now only the discussion has to be moved, then we can close this.

"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI know you did. That's what I said. >.<
"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerWell, I usually prefer the more detailed explanation. Also, I've set the page type for the new laconic.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanHave you found the cut western examples or are they gone?
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickI removed the note about western examples, but I'm not sure we can find them.
"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerI couldn't find any western examples in the wicks
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanWe might also want to tweak the definition so it doesn't say Yandere every third word.

Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickTweaked. How's it look?
"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerThe page from June has a few Western examples.

Crown Description:
Currently, the name Yandere Love Triangle allows only East Asian examples on the page.
Not explicitly acknowledging the possibility of there being three yanderes is a feature, not a bug. I'm trying to zero in on what makes this a trope, because "Love Triangle where at least two participants have Personality Trait X" for arbitrary X is People Sit On Chairs. I believe the important point is the obvious problems that come with one person having two insanely, violently jealous people in love with them. The possibility that the person caught in the middle might be crazy themselves seems beside the point.
