Well, that's because Magical Girl who fight with lance/ polearms are quite rare (most of them using Magic Staff instead), with only 2 characters qualified in my current knowledge: Kyouko Sakura and Sailor Saturn.

Nanoha fights with a kind of lance/staff/cannon thing.

Speaking of, a Nanoha character is totally going to be in this, right?

The way she uses it would put her more in line with the Archer class.

Fake x Fate Chapter 7.

Kinda short but the next chapter should be the climax of Volume 3.

To be fair, just because a weapon isn't intended to be used in a certain way doesn't mean the servants using them won't be summoned in a class not befitting the use of their weapon.

Gae Bolg is supposta be used in the way Scathach uses it, as in, throwing it (that's also it's real use, which is when we see EMIYA deploy Rho Aias), the way Cu Chulainn uses it is totally unintended.

Hector is also capable of using his own spear in melee, even though, again, it's supposta be a throwing spear. Also in-story, IINM, it's literally a sword on a stick. Durandal, if, again, I'm not mistaken, on a stick.

So yeah, Nanoha probably can squeak by because in its most recognizable forms, Raising Heart is vaguely spearshaped (which would make people think its a spear).

Oh hey. Chapter 8 was posted moments later. In it, we get a neat little deviation from canon. With this revelation, I'm totally waiting for Shirou to project Caliburn and use it to destroy the combo sword.

It's a very common cliche of Fate/DXD crossovers to have Shirou be inexplicably able to project Excalibur in order to "show that petty copy that it doesn't compare to the original".

Honestly, though... I kinda like Shirou getting pissed at the DXD Excalibur because he is pretty much a living sword, and having the Sword that all Holy Swords can only dream of being be reduced to that is... well... bad.

I kinda feel like writing a scene where someone tries to explain to Shirou that Excalibur broke, and he just cannot process the idea of Excalibur breaking, because it is just something that can't happen in his mind. It is literally an impossible situation that Shirou cannot actually understand, and it boggles his mind as much as Ea does.

And speaking about bad fanfic ideas...

Here's a rough set of stupid ideas that went into designing an outline for a fic:

It starts off with a short prologue with Bazett summoning Cu Chulainn with a few chunks of Gae Bolg.

Everything goes the way it should all the way until Cu Chulainn appears dressed in robes. Because Bazett accidentally smudged one of the runes she was using to alter the ritual to ensure he was summoned as a Lancer (she was Crazy-Prepared for the war here), she accidentally screwed it up and summoned him as a Caster instead.

Cue her heading to the church and the short prologue ends with the implication that Kirei's about to murder her.

Then we cut to the real start of the fic, which is a fakeout where it seems like it'll be a repeat of the prologue for the original FSN novel with Rin... but then Rin has a little time before she has to summon and tries to watch a movie from a VHS tape like her mother used to. This makes Rin remember she sucks at technology, so she questions if she set things up right. Then she discovers the clocks in her house are not at the right time, and she adjusts them.

End result is Rin succesfully summoning a Saber. Rin squees pretty hard when she realizes she just summoned King Arthur. Then she notices that King Arthur is a girl. And then she checks the stats and to her horror, the stats suck. Because Rin didn't summon the King of Britons, she summoned the Knight Princess that would become the King of Britons in time. Rin summons Saber Lily, whose only redeeming trait at this point is Blossoming Journey. Blossoming Journey basically acts as an enabler for an 'RPG' system, in which Lily gains experience as she fights (though inversely from most RP Gs, Lily gains more experience from losing than winning), and earning a certain amount of experience will increase her stats.

Also, depending on Rin's choices with regards to her 'upbringing', Lily can wind up either becoming Saber Alter, Vanilla Arturia or remain as Saber Lily.

Naturally, because she doesn't videogames, Rin is pretty bamboozled by this.

Meanwhile, we cut to Sakura, who succesfully summons the same class she summoned in canon. Only, instead of summoning Medusa, she summons something a little bit less dangerous, Marie Antoinette. Why? No reason. Screw logic. Anyway, so she summons Marie Antoinette, who has Princess of Loveliness. Which causes Shinji, who's weak willed, to turn a new leaf and become a chivalrous, good individual. His last act is to sacrifice himself to help the two of them escape the Matou manor.

Zouken is pretty fucking pissed about all of this by the by.

Anyway, Sakura and Marie flee to Shirou's house. Marie guesses pretty much instantly that there's shared attraction there and plays matchmaker. She's smart enough to just sit them down for a romantic candlelit dinner and then tell the two of them straight out that they fancy each other, and then lets them do the rest. She's also impressed with Shirou's size and makes jokes about horses.

Anyway, so now Sakura is safe, but Rin is in trouble, because Lily still sucks too much to really fight anyone without dying horribly. This is proven when they stumble upon Caster Cu, who proceeds to beat the everloving tar out of Lily using his staff, not resorting to his runes at all. Then he starts using them and the fight is so onesided it's not even funny. Before he can finish her off, though, EMIYA drops in right the f*ck outta nowhere and dropkicks Caster Cu off the building they're fighting on.

Who summoned EMIYA? Illyasviel von Einzbern herself, of course. She's had time to familiarize herself with him and he has revealed to her pretty much everything he knows about the war. Because while he's jaded as fuck, he's still got a bit of a big brother instinct that has been enhanced to hell by being with Illya for the weeks it took before the setup of the war proper.

Anyway, when Illya tells him to finish Rin and Saber Lily off himself, he refuses. He also reminds Illya not to be too much of a brat because he has Rule Breaker and will use it if she tries to abuse the Command Seals to make him do something he really does not wish to do. Illya is forced to be civil.

Naturally, they go to Illya's castle and have tea there.

Rin and Illya are both on edge, but EMIYA is enjoying himself immensely by bullying the both of them at the same time and Saber Lily is too innocent to really know what's going on. She decides EMIYA is like Kay and is just acting as a proper Big Brother to both Rin and Illya.

Anyway, the next day, Marie is shopping for groceries (because Shirou and Sakura are busy f*cking as they have been since Marie got them together) when some Yakuza who are trying to take over the Fujimura family's territory show up and try to ruin her day. Of course, Marie's still a servant and could rip them to shreds with her bare hands, but before she can do anything about it, Lily, who was on an errand getting groceries for EMIYA (who is trying to show Sella and Leysritt that they suck at their jobs and how to do them better), happens to see the whole thing, grabs a stick (commenting in her head that she feels a strange sense of deja vu, like she'd heard about someone doing something similar before) and beats the tar out of the Yakuza herself.

Marie is delighted and totally forgets about the Grail War and decides to use Shirou's money to treat her 'rescuer' to something. All of this was engineered by Marie's skill Princess of Loveliness, which causes a knightly individual to come to her protection just by her existing, and it just so happens that Lily is a knightly individual.

And now is when you discover that the entire thing is an excuse to get Marie and Lily together.

Zouken then summons Assassin for the express purpose of hunting down the Rider that ruined his plans, so he intentionally summons Sanson Jr., the one who actually oversaw Marie Antoinette's execution, and the entire Grail War's plot is replaced by a story in which Saber Lily and Marie are falling in love while Sanson Jr. is trying to murderize Marie.

Also later in the story, Shirou summons Karna because fire why not, at which point it's revealed that Shirou did not have Avalon in his body in this continuity (he survived because Kiritsugu got to him before the burns became mortal, but after they'd wiped out everything that was 'Shirou' before the fire). Of course, when Karna rolls around, so does Gilgamesh, who's delighted at finally having a decent challenge.

That's about as far as my plans go. Final boss fight planned was basically Saber Lily wearing Karna's armor (Karna had, incidentally, died killing Gilgamesh earlier) fighting Gilgamesh's body after it'd been possessed by Angra Mainyu. Saber would not have Caliburn anymore by this point because she would have to use it against Sanson Jr., breaking it in the process (because Caliburn can't handle its own power), so she was out of the war until that fight, where she gets a new weapon. How?

Well, from Gilgamesh, of all people. Of course, killing him wasn't enough to put Gilgamesh down for the count, even when Angra Mainyu took over his body before it could disappear (remember he's made of flesh and blood because of the grail mud so there is something to possess), so basically from within the grail he threw Saber a bone by giving her one of his treasures. Not Ea because that makes the final fight a joke, but Merodach, which is basically the ancestor of the ancestor of the ancestor of Caliburn (since it goes Merodach -> Gram -> Balmung -> Caliburn, IIRC).

So basically Saber Lily at this point is a power ranger with a battlelizer and the 'sixth ranger''s super cool super weapon fighting the Big Bad.

Oh, and because of reasons involving Karna's armor, Rin being a fucking genius, cooperation with the Einzberns under threat of a servant wrecking their shit and a variety of other reasons, everyone lives happily ever after. Shirou and Sakura get married, Rin denies being in an incestuous three way relationship for years (nobody buys it, especially when she gets pregnant and her baby looks like a miniature Shirou), Marie and Lily fall in love (because of course they do), Illya reconciles with Shirou, EMIYA gets to see a world where everyone's happy and his past self won't become an embittered, jaded asshole and stuff.

Oh, and they succesfully murder Angra Mainyu and destroy the corrupted grail forever, too.

Because everyone loves happy endings.

(Berserker was summoned by Medea's master. Because that guy is a moron, he got himself killed by his servant whom he couldn't control and the servant faded soon after.)

Well, it's a good thing that it's not Excalibur in this one, then, huh?

On Lancer magical girls, why we talking about whether Nanoha qualifies when her waifu's signature weapon is a scythe named after a polearm? There's your Lancer right there.

Also, Symphogear has a magical girl wielding no-shit Gungnir, which should qualify her easily.

Has there actually been any explanation for what Blossoming Journey is supposed to be in-universe, or are you just bullshitting wildly?

(Also, rooting for Rin to develop Saber into her Santa form. Stumble randomly onto the hidden secret path, Rin! I believe in you!)

I can only conclude that, when throwing the money at the screen, you shouldn't use change.

That's because I don't have a Patreon. If I did, I would probably write more often.

Either way, if any of you wants to actually write that, of course, you can. It's not like I don't steal ideas from everything and everywhere myself, so I wouldn't have much of a ground to stand in if anybody took that for him or herself.

No complaints here...but is Marie weak as well? Also, where has it been said that Saber Lily is weak?

Basically, between the two, Artoria Classic is better in literally every way (well, she's even in Prana and Luck but, other than that). Marie, meanwhile, is worse than either of them in literally every way (well, their Agility is the same but, other than that). Of course, that's to be expected when comparing someone from one of the lesser Classes with one of the three Knight Classes.

Saber had B Strength Mana and Luck, and C Endurance, NP and Agility when Shirou was her master.

She had A Strength, Mana, A++ NP, A+ Luck, and B Endurance and Agility under Rin.

And under Kerry she had B Strength and Mana, A Endurance and Agility, D Luck, and A++ NP.

Well, obviously Saber Lily hasn't spent nearly as much time training as a knight, since she decided to not forsake her feminine side.

My main theory concerning Lily is that she's from an alternate universe where she never decided to hide her sex for any given reason and became a normal Heroic Spirit rather than going to Avalon. It's basically the only way her existence makes any sense to me.

But she's got a translated profile that talks about her being Arturia when she "had just began walking down the path of a king." Why do you still need to theorize?

Because it makes absolutely no sense given the explanation of how Artoria works as a Servant, it contradicts the fact that she sealed away her humanity when she drew Caliburn, and it makes the whole "King Arthur was actually a woman and basically nobody knew" thing even more unbelievable than it already was. I already decided long ago that I was only going to be cherry picking things from GO and this is one of them.

Besides, my theory doesn't contradict her GO profile. I just add that she's from an AU (which is certainly a thing in the Nasuverse) on top of that.

Because I can't really imagine Arturia as having been this girly even before she went to draw Caliburn. Not unless there was some off-screen event that turned her from an idealistc girly girl into the stoic young woman who is willing through away her very womanhood to turn herself into an emotionless living machine of pragmatic warrior-rulership.
