I think I prefer the anime pic to the manga one...I associate that slack-jawed expression with the title phrase a lot more than the grimace.
Gotta say I way disagree there open mouth isnt really much vs clenched teeth in fear, especially when it is lacking Plewds.

Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!Either pic is better than anything else in the old crowner...we could run a two-option crowner with these, or we could get a couple more options.
I like the old pic a lot more, even if it is in black and white. The new pic is just "surprised," the old one is "Oh fuck!"
Agreed,
Was reading Change 123 today and man there are a bunch what about any of these? (I think the old pic is still better but it might strike other's fancy.)

Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!Eh, not feeling any of those over the first two...great examples of Ahoge in those first few, though.

Three votes resulted in consensus to keep or otherwise not change the color image of Quattro for the Main page of Oh, Crap!. I moved it off the Main page, to the Anime & Manga subpage, in accordance with this thread.
I don't see how it's even arguable that the B&W picture is better. That link is only to the subpage discussion, which is misleading. Obviously (?) the image that comes off the Main page should replace whatever image is on the corresponding subpage.

Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan. That Ahoge reacts when Something Else Rises as well as its a radar for Super Sentai collectables... lol
Anyway thought I would try a different angle... nvm.
"Three votes"... wow... seriously its not as good as the other one (and this is coming from one who loves both series.)

Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!Is that sarcasm? Three crowners. And the threads they are attached to comprise several hundred posts. Will find...

Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.I thought you meant three people voted to keep it by "Three Votes"... Anyway the old picture is younger than those crowners and it wasn't a real option to be voted on...
However It is missing several Oh, Crap! elements so it is still a poor image compared to the other one (elements that I have brought up in a earlier post) and could of been improved on hence why I think the other one is better, it shows more of a surprise.
(and both pics were actually uploaded by me...)
EDIT: thought maybe add context of the Oh, Crap! like this one

Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!That is an ignominious way for Quattro to go down. Oh well.
Oh, Crap! is better off with no image than that, huh? Someone might think it's about anime.

I think the Quattro pic is the best choice out of all pictures I've ever seen suggested in the several wars about the image for this trope. The Chisame pic is the second best.
The slackjawed expression is less ambiguous than the grimace, as the latter could potentially be about something squicky. I don't think Quattro can be mistaken for surprised either, due to the wrinkles around her eyes and the small irises. On the other hand, realisation is a form of surprise, so that wouldn't be necessarily wrong anyway.
Considering both pics have been voted to be the image for this trope, I'd say neither has more precedence over the other. A case could be made for the Quattro pic, though, since it's survived through more crowners as well as on a page where pictures from more mediums were allowed.

The Internet misuses, abuses, and overuses everything.Wow, this is back again? I had really thought that finally we'd dealt with this. I remember being involved in an absolutely heated debate over this particular trope's picture and we finally decided to leave Quattro.
Like, three times no less.
Quattro's image has been voted on three times, which to my knowledge may be either one of the highest voted or the highest voted on image on this forum. Three seperate times the poor freaked out girl has had to be put up on stand to defend her right to brown out her pants in the face of befriending. She's won each time. Not by great margins, but she's won. Taking ANOTHER vote and switching the situation over kinda doesn't settle right with me on the simple purpose of "the last three votes gave her victory." Yes, that doesn't mean she can't be voted out, but we're not electing a president here.
If she can't be on the main page (which already kinda leaves a bad taste in my mouth) she should at least be given an honorary position on the Anime page.
In full disclosure, I would like to say that long ago when first getting into Nanoha, I saw the Quattro image and made the original pulled-out-of-a-video image that was artifacted as hell and slapped it up there, so I am in fact biased. I do believe that her image of sheer unrelenting horror speaks volumes as to the trope, without having to display any further information. This IS a visual trope, it's specifically ABOUT the expression right before the end. Even without knowledge of what's going on you can tell that Quattro is facing something that has horrified her to the core. You don't know that she's facing enormous pink laser befriending. You do know she's facing the end.
I vote to keep.
I'd also like to add my vote for keeping the Quattro pic.
Clock is set. The consensus appears to be to put the Quattro pic back on the page.
FWIW also prefer Quattro. The eyebrows are great, too.

Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.Looks like a big scare to me.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanThat image has been suggested and rejected several times.
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.Yeah, I remember that from one of the older threads.
Both. (Possibly all three but oldest is gone.)
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.Okay, the clock's up and, if I'm reading the thread right, the consensus is still to use the Quattro image over the Chisame pic, so they're switched out, the pic's potholed, and the tag's changed to reflect this thread. Locking up.
So the old image was chosen by a thread (IIRC a crowner as well) and someone replaced it with the one that was on the front page.... the old one was so much better at showing "Oh, Crap!" than the new one which is lacking feeling.
