There has been couple of times where arguments broke out in threads when people failed to read my Pot Hole, usually Joking Mode and Humor Mode.

God, it's just SO exhausting and annoying when that happens.

I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel.

To be fair, the latest upgrade to Firefox removed the link mouseover and turned it into a tooltip that doesn't always bother to pop up.

Still, people pothole that link so excessively you'd think readers would just assume it every time they saw blue.

But no one likes potholes. They cause flat tires.

Insert witty and clever quip here. My page, as the database hates my handle.

[up][up] Huh? I have the most recent firefox and I still get the link hover just fine. I'd be rather mad if I didn't; isn't knowing where a link goes kinda a prerequisite for clicking it?

Must be a compatibility thing. Mine just decides it doesn't feel like popping up about half the time. If that happens when I want to scout a link before clicking it I have to right click and copy-paste it.

Meh, whatever.

If it's a redlink, there might be certain tropers (IE me) who are incapable of differentiating it from regular text without squinting.

[up] Really? I find it harder to see blue links than red links.

DG: well, the red glasses are the issue, not my actual colour-blindness.

In discussions, I tend to only use potholing when there's a big need for emphasis.

You don't need to link to every single thing that pops up in a forum post. I find it annoying or even condescending.

Now using Trivialis handle.

...Sorry, AE, or anyone who may find me a nuisance because of all the potholing I do.

It's not just bitching. I see an actual conversation going on here. A meandering conversation, to be sure, but a conversation nonetheless. It's ok, as long as that continues.
