And that is why the Yellow Ranger, unlike the Pink Ranger, has no skirt on her costume.

Was divided between putting the flags and the show's icons.

The flags are a much better idea. Certainly the shows' icons would be meaningless to a lot of people.

Ghilz has won this topic. I give you an Epic Win! Also, the Yellow Ranger thing never even crossed my mind. Seriously, never even noticed the skirt thing.

Ghilz apparently informed Catelogue of something he didn't know. I like his.

One or two more votes and we can run with it.

It's awful to be that guy but that is Gender Flip, since that is from an adaptation and not the same work on different countries, and not this trope.

A) I took it from the examples, where it's listed.

B) Several examples then need to be purged. Seriously, a ton of them are not mere translations. (See FF 1 to Eight Bit Theater for example.) Several are reimaginings or reintepretations. If [up] is true. This needs a visit in TRS with the sheer number of bad examples on the page.

I'd like to recommend a picture of Zoisite from Sailor Moon as a good example of what this trope is about.

Yeah, the Yellow Ranger pic is the best so far. The trope is that a character changes gender when being imported from it's source country for whatever reason may be. In Power Rangers' case, it's to balance out the cast to appeal to both genders a little better, but that doesn't mean the trope doesn't apply. There was no plot reason for the yellow ranger to be changed from male to female, and since they used stock footage from the original Japanese series anyway, the confusion remains... kinda.

It for sure is an example it just was not done for the same reasons as most of the other examples on the page.

Reading the trope descriptions, it seems more sensible that it is indeed an example of SAMIJ. Gender Flip seems to me more of a deliberate what-if situation that can alter a story's feel significantly.

And so! We should call this. It's old.

Alright, I'd say that's enough consensus. The new pic and caption are up, potholed, and tagged. Locking up.
