Guilty Gear

Xrd's story did have a few advantages over NRS' approach to storytelling. It allowed for more of a rounded story when you it wasn't locked into a character for a segment, they didn't have to write around the stages, which Mortal Kombat X suffered with. (There weren't quite enough stages, so the story felt somewhat small scale in places. Mortal Kombat 9 and Injustice had enough stages to vary up the locals enough)

Also @Handsome Rob, #Reload is on GOG.com for about $12 along with it's soundtrack, and it is playable on Mac, if you are interested.

Oh god, please tell me it can be a Downloadable Update, and not an entire disc revision. I know this is ASW, but no way they'd be dickish enough to announce a separate revision only six months after the console version comes out, right?

It's ASW. I won't be surprised if they do it with extra disc. After what happens in BB, I just peg them as 'They will make extra disc for it.'

But, dang. Now I have to add the note in my ASW Top 15 character video that the script was made before this announcement!

In that case, wait until it's revealed that it's a trap. Like Bridget. Or it's Bridget himself.

Hilarious because Persona 4 ver 2.0 isn't even out yet on console.

That new character actually might be Bridget. The thing at the bottom reminds me all too much of his yo-yo.

What I want for this new version is Sin to get a new Overdrive called I-Ray. It's an altered version of Dizzy's Imperial Ray, and when he uses it, he cries out "Father, this is YOUR power!"

Johnny isn't playable in Xrd?

I didn't even notice.

Anyway, now that Dizzy is awake again, she'll likely make it in.

Watched more Xrd story. The way everyone just looks at Sin when he brings up how the villains could use Illyria Castle's Lightning Rod to catch St. Elmo's fire cracked me up.

What's the deal? I thought Sin was supposed to be awful, but he's seemed pretty good here. Or was that just in Overture?

Things look like they will be interesting. I expect the new version, whether it comes as a disk or DLC, will have Gabriel and Dizzy as playable characters in addition to Johnny.

I suppose some people who didn't make it into Xrd might be brought in as well, like Dizzy, and maybe Baiken (a character who despises Gears might be a useful weapon, and she still has some Character Development to go through as well.

I suppose we'll see how it goes. Some might make it in due to potential plot importance, and others due to popularity.

Oh wow, if someone is trying to bring back Justice, Testament is gonna have to get involved in some way now that I think about it.

Edit II: And now for shits and giggles: Elphelt vs Dizzy. Which Waifu (heh, finally said that) gets walloped?

And being a bit more serious, both the Valentines and the Gears are artificial creations with incredible powers. I'm genuinely curious as to which race is stronger.

Sin was never really a bad character, its just his "I hate you Dad" complex was kinda the crux of his personality in Overture; fortunately they had him mostly get over it in Xrd and made him the the nicest guy in the cast, especially how he and Sol contrast their methods on dealing with El and Ram.

I get the feeling he gets his kindness from his dad.

Because lets face it, the males of that family seem to have a thing for trusting artificial beings in human form (especially if they are ladies).

Still wondering about both of my other questions (the serious one and the joke one).

I find the 3 years old from an egg thing extremely stupid and his design still kind of sucks. Sin is like the only GG character I actively dislike.

I wonder if that's Bridget? Maybe the halo is roger, or playing off his nun-theme in that he ascended to "sainthood?"

Has anyone thought of the possibility of our mystery character being Ariels?

We never got a good look at her, so we can't be sure of her real frame, body type or how her hair looks. Furthermore, that halo gives off a holy kind of vibe, and isn't Ariels basically the Guilty Gear world equivalent of the Pope?

Worldbuilding? In Guilty Gear? Pfft.

That's not so crazy an idea.

I'd give you a cookie, but THEY'RE ALL MINE!!! YOU CAN'T HAVE THEM!!!!! but we're not in the same place so that's a no go.

Really, Guilty Gear, alongside Blaz Blue seems pretty big on world building. Much more than most Fighting Game stories in fact.

Isn't she supposed to be the new Bigger Bad or something?

It'd feel rather odd to have her playable this early when the initial game made such a big deal about keeping her identity hidden. Not to mention being introduced side by side with Johnny of all people.

I'd see it happening.

True, it would make more sense to introduce her in the next true entry and have her be the Boss character, but maybe Daisuke wants to do something with her now?
