Not gears, Gear. As in Sol. He is the Guilty Gear.
When I first played the game I thought the whole cast were Gears and gears were like super androids or something which explained their bizarre movesets.
With Ky joining him from Xrd onward
still amused by the fact that there's now a character who requires card counting as a player skill
"we want to make the game more beginner friendly"
Song of the Sirenshow does that work?
New theme music also a boxNah leave it up to random chance. Heart of the cards, and all that.
Besides, my big brain is telling me the opponent won't be able to predict my moves if I don't even know what I'm about to do. Kinda like Yugi vs Pegasus.
Short explanation: Sol Badguy is the Guilty Gear. He is the first Gear. Gears are magitech cyborgs. He kills Justice at the end of the first game, and in doing so realizes it was his wife transformed into a Gear. Thus he is guilty.

not to mention that he's somewhat responsible for why the world went to crap
"There's not a girl alive who wouldn't be happy being called cute." ~Tamamo-no-MaeTook me a while to figure out what Asuka's magic ball overdrive reminded me of, but I finally got it: Kokonoe's fireball super in BB, which is also affected by her gravity gimmick
Song of the SirensAsuka feels like an answer(no not him) to all the people accusing of Strive being too simplified and not complex enough.
we already had happy chaos
tho he looks pretty simple you need like, fourteen fingers to play him properly

Song of the SirensChaos wasn't enough I guess when people realized that in practice to succeed with him you didn't need to capitalize on his most complex stuff.
I kinda wonder if # is gonna be as fortunate
So an interesting thing, if you press up or down while choosing Asuka's colour palette in character select, you can switch to playing the real Asuka rather than the clone (his name changes to Asuka R. Kreutz as opposed to Asuka R#); several character interactions change depending on which Asuka you're playing as (most notably Sol)
Also you're autolocked to the real Asuka for Arcade mode
Song of the SirensAHHHH that's actually really cool. I was wondering how to get the real deal and not phony asuka.
Right now my biggest issue with playing asuka is getting his slots for K and S mixed up. I keep thinking the 2nd slot is for S but it's for K.
goodsmile has officially announced the upcoming Bridget nendoroid
and aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa omg omg omg omg i need it i really really need the biscuit nendo so bad its so cute i need it
"There's not a girl alive who wouldn't be happy being called cute." ~Tamamo-no-MaeSo, a while ago (many pages ago), someone posted a comment about Dimitri Monroe arguing about the Japanese perspective of Bridget being trans being a translation with an agenda (he spoke about other examples of this being the case).
Daisuke later came out and confirm: Bridget is trans.
That should be enough to shush the topic, right?
Well, he just...posted another video about "THE RETCON INVESTIGATED". I'm just glad I never took his Sonic opinions seriously, man.
To win, you need to adapt, and to adapt, you need to be able to laugh away all the restraints. Everything holding you back. Why are you even bringing it up? "Shitty chud continues to be a shitty chud" isn't news. They can die mad about it.

Trans rights are human rights.Good point.
I am just disappointed because the whole thing is messy. Dimitri, despite his bad takes, had a point in the past that localization companies have done a bad job translating works because it misunderstands the original intention (hey, this is a common criticism of translations in general, I agree). But people and him immediately played conspiracy theorist with Bridget, saying the West is to blame for Daisuke's decision - when he could just have change his mind about Bridget's deal.
It's just weird.

To win, you need to adapt, and to adapt, you need to be able to laugh away all the restraints. Everything holding you back.- Bowdlerise: The original translation for the story mode of XX and #Reload, done by Majesco, borders on "Blind Idiot" Translation at certain points. Due to this, several key plot points and character nuances ended up Lost in Translation, like the explanation behind Axl's time warping abilities, Venom's loyalty for Zato actually being something more, and subtle hints towards Bridget's gender dysphoria that would be elaborated on in later games.
This is on the trope page for Guilty Gear XX. Is there anywhere I can read more about this? I'm genuinely curious.
"Localization bad" isn't a bold, daring take and his fixation on evil westerners with an agenda ruining Japanese media was always firmly within the realm of right-wing crankery.
When given a case so cut-and-dry, so incontrovertible that there's no hiding behind """reasonable concerns""", reactionaries will show their asses. It's not weird at all; it's who he is and has been all along.

Trans rights are human rights.I saw a comment that sums those people up completely, when someone asked "what about Testament?" the response was "I think Testament is gross too"
Song of the SirensI wanted to expand on my thoughts about the topic, but I feel it would derail the thread into political discourse, which I feel is not necessary here. So I'll leave, thanking you for allowing me to share them. See ya later.
