I don't think this is an example: Ascended Fridge Horror

Okay, so this trope is about Fridge Horror that is addressed within the series it takes place in, right? So another work entirely riffing off Tom And Jerry isn't this trope - just plain old Fridge Horror.

Am I incorrect somehow?

I see your point...the strip parodies T&J's Fridge Horror but the pic doesn't actually demonstrate the trope, and this:

Maybe we could scrap the current Fridge Horror image (which is just a sketch of some reactions to examples of this trope, reactions that can also be reactions to other things, and not very indicative of the trope itself) and use the Tom And Jerry image for Fridge Horror...

EDITED IN: Alternatively, it could be used for Deconstruction...

[up] Either of those would work fine...I tend to lean toward the latter.

Unless there was actually an episode where Jerry went to jail, then yeah, this doesn't count

I just remembered something about the strip that's the current pic: it actually is an example, sort of, but an in universe example. There's a final panel that shows Leo and Aeris staring slack-jawed at a TV while one of them holds a DVD case that says "Tom And Jerry: the Lost Episodes". Of course, the current version of the pic does not have this rather important panel.

So the question becomes, do in-universe examples "count"? I think they kinda, sorta do, but it's rather weak, at least in the case of this particular trope.

[up][up] If we do that, we need to at the very least add in that key panel, or otherwise it won't make any sense.

And I still think a non-In-Universe example is light years better.

It starts as slapstick, and ends by calling attention to things slapstick usually glosses over. That makes sense all right.

However, I still think it makes more sense to use it on either Fridge Horror or Deconstruction... especially on Fridge Horror, actually, since there are probably more alternatives for Deconstruction. (This comes to mind.)

[up] I meant, it doesn't make sense as this trope, which requires the Fridge Horror be ascended and addressed in the show itself. Without that last panel, you can't and don't know that, so you're led to believe, like I was, that it wasn't an example.

[up] It still wasn't anyway, as VG Cats was making it up. It's better to use elsewhere anyway.

Seconding. Great Fridge Horror picture, great Deconstruction picture, but not Ascended Fridge Horror at all.

Honestly, the picture is really confusing. I figured what the trope was from the name and the description, then I saw the picture and was thrown for a loop. It's a bad decision.

The trope is about a Fridge Horror that becomes canon, like Toy Story 3 explores what happens to toys when their owner grows up. The T&J cartoon is worse than no image I think.

Yeah, first things first remove it from this page, then we can decide whether or not to put it on Deconstruction, Deconstructive Parody, Fridge Horror, or some other page, or nowhere, etc...

Should we use a crowner to decide which other trope to put it on?

You can see the edit history of crowner options :P I think that crowner shouldn't be happening at all, but having a "none" option is second to that. "The image is pulled from this page but definitely going on some page somewhere else"? "Use a crowner to decide which other trope to put it on"?! That is objectionable and completely without precedent. Not to mention one of the pages already has an image.
