Current:
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.Gone. Memes are apparently an insta-pull.
Actually a girl.And good riddance.
Suggestions for a replacement?
This post was thumped by the Eldritch Flyswatter of Horror
Arrange of Eight Bit Theater strips:
The set-up | |
Flashback to it happening (not-sepia'd◊) | |
The phrase plus Actually Pretty Funny |
Is there a way to give it a slight sepia shade? The color washing is too strong in my opinion.
Fight smart, not fair.I think five frames and fifty words is too many.
Still kind of wordy:
Hm.

Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.^^The program I use doesn't have settings for sepiaing, it goes just that all the way. The normal-colour version is in the post specifically if anybody else wants to try
... okay, that's nice. But will someone explain to me what's going on in the picture? It may just be that I'm tired...
Always do right. This will gratify some people and astonish the rest. — Mark TwainOne character asks "Why did you do it that way?" The other responds "I though it would be funny".
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan. And in the flashback, they stuck him on the outside of the rocket aircraft they were using for travel.
Look, that image seriously lacks context. And expressiveness. It doesn't contribute anything that the quote that's already there didn't accomplish. Even in the expanded version, I don't even get why it's funny to strap some guy to the top of a rocket. Bad as memes are, at least that smiley face, and the behavior associated therewith, exemplify the trope perfectly in Real Life.
Coming in without having seen the original, I don't think we need to know what they did. The trope is encapsulated in the compressed single panel — "Why did you do it that way? "We thought it would be funny." The trope is simply "Amoral characters do something solely because it amuses them". The "something" can be what they did or how they did it.

...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.I would prefer something that shows a little more action. This looks just like two characters standing around for no reason, and one of them stating the trope name.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!Don't you mean deathtrap, Adannor?
(yes, they're literally CALLED deathtraps in 8 Bit Theater)

^Oh yeah, that would have made the explanation so much more understandable.
fair point. I think we do need the deathtrap panel, though.
I don really see the point in using a spritecomic panel. It really cant contribute anything more in the way of emotions/images than the quote.
Clock is set.
Clock's up; locking for inactivity/lack of consensus. No further action is to be taken based on this thread.
Ooh, another image that is literally just a face and a caption. No indication that the face did something with the purpose of amusing himself. He's just happy/carefree.
I'm not crazy, I just don't give a darn!
