It was neither, and the endless fan wars are just not on topic for us.
Goal: Clear, Concise and WittyCould it not be restored to a neutral state and then locked from editing? Or would that be too much trouble?

Thanks for answering my question.
Here is the old TRS thread. Should explain some things.

somethingI still think it would make sense to have this at least as a redirect to IBM Personal Computer, though that's really a misnomer nowadays.

^ Why? Sure, Windows runs on PCs, but the software is not the same thing as the hardware.
(misunderstood the post I was replying to, fixed now)

All your safe space are belong to TrumpI know hardware and software are not the same thing, but when most computer keyboards nowadays show the Windows®©™ logo on a pair of keys, one could argue that the line has been blurred.
Only in the minds of Microsoft advertising department employees.
Seriously, because something is of interest to some tropers doesn't necessarily mean that it qualifies for a link (redirect or otherwise) on TV Tropes. This site isn't supposed to be a poor man's Wikipedia.

All your safe space are belong to TrumpThe flag keys have nothing to do with anything. IBM PC compatibles can run Windows, Linux, *BSD, Haiku, OS/2 Warp, an ungodly array of eclectic operating systems and OSX. The hardware isn't the important bit.
It could work as an index of games and Visual Novels released for the OS. We have such things for other platforms.
Yeah, unwritten rule number one: follow all the unwritten procedures. - CamacanDoes it make sense to have a "PC Games" index? The Video Game Systems has just about everything else; the real problem would be making it of readable length. I'm afraid the sheer size would require subindexing of some kind.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"^Maybe make sub-indexes by decade?
Infinite Tree: an experimental storyI'd actually really like if all videogames were on an index of the platform they're playable on. That is really useful information for people who game. It lets people figure out what games they could track down and play. It lets people who are interested in a certain gaming platform look for other games that might interest them.
Or other games they might have played but didn't pop into their heads right away. It's really a fairly useful way to organize, and index games as well as encouraging crosswiking.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickGood idea!
I very much agree with the idea of having all video game pages indexed with the platforms they run on.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Excellent idea. I'm actually kinda surprised we weren't doing it already.
Infinite Tree: an experimental storyThat's a good idea.
It's been done for the Freeware Games page already, so we could use that as a reference model for a more general template.
Having a separate index for each platform might be the best thing, as that also shows up on individual pages automatically. For example, Darwinia would go on the Windows Games, Mac Games, Linux Games and Xbox Live Arcade Games.
Yeah, unwritten rule number one: follow all the unwritten procedures. - CamacanSo, who is making those pages?
And a million fanfics were written...On a side note: Freeware Games seems to me to be split one way too many. I would greatly prefer if it didn't try so hard to split everything by Video Game Genres when we have a whole separate set of index pages for that.
On a different note, why should Unix and Mac OS still have pages?
In fact, take a look at this: How Video Game Specs Work
Do they have arguments, flame wars, or problems? Otherwise, there's no reason to apply a Double Standard. Pages that are taken down either are unimportant/unneeded, or have major problems.
Quest 64 threadMicrosoft Windows was taken down in the end because Fast Eddie said the page was not needed. In his words on that TRS thread: "I just cut it. Not on topic for us." I'm pretty sure that means that the pages on the other Operating Systems should not be needed as well, if not all the other pages listed on that How Video Game Specs Work page.
Edit: I just checked the TRS thread. It wasn't for Microsoft Windows, but for Microsoft the company. Still, the same reasoning should apply, shouldn't it?

In the end, yes. But it did also have a lot of bile and other stuff. Both were indeed a problem, even if that wasn't the full reason.
An on-mission version would be nice, if locked, though.
Quest 64 thread
I went to look at it, and it's completely blanked and locked.
As far as I know, it was fairly non inflammatory and neutral, so what happened?
