Also, pick your favorite quote.
Fight smart, not fair.Motion to pull
Pic doesn't adequately demonstrate the trope.
I'd go with the first quote.

Supporting pull and the first quote.
Support Gravitaz on Kickstarter!Supporting the image pull. As for the quotes, I don't like either of them but the first is definitely better than the second.
What is this "sleep" you speak of?I say you should stay with the image, considering Courage has proven himself again and again. Besides, a cowardly lion and the so called coward are not mutually exclusive.
Except he's not an example due to reasons stated in the OP
Read Just A Face And A Caption, How To Pick A Good Image, and Sliding Scale Of Image Pertinence. This image is does not adequately show the trope.
Edit: and what said.

I'm not crazy, I just don't give a darn!Looks like Fast Eddie disagrees with you.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanWell I'd like to ask how, since the trope is not about actual cowards. The fact that Courage clearly looks shaken/scared in the pic does not help things.
From the edit history:
I think that Eddie means that the "So-Called" part is got across by the caption. No further context needed, so not Just A Face And A Caption. The "coward" one is in the image.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanAccording to the trope description, this is about an Actual Pacifist type character who is called a coward by bullies because he doesn't like fighting. He's not actually scared of anything, necessarily.
As I've said before, Courage is a Cowardly Lion, which is a character who does get scared, but succeeds despite it. Once the danger is over, he goes back to being scared of ordinary things.
From the Cowardly Lion description:
"Unlike The So-Called Coward, this character is not actually misunderstood and does not need to be viewed by other characters as cowardly; it is his own opinion that matters. (And the so-called coward may be perfectly confident in his own courage.) "
That's Courage the Cowardly Dog right there. Fits him to a T. He's definitely not a so-called coward.

Yeah, this picture is misleading, even to people that don't know who Courage is. Even if it weren't basically JAFACC, that should be reason enough to pull.
Unfortunately I don't know of any examples from other media or I'd provide a suggestion. Fast Eddie putting it back up means we'll need to offer some better pics before taking it down again.
Clock is set.
Clock's up; locking for inactivity/lack of consensus. No action is to be taken based on this thread.
Courage is more of a Cowardly Lion anyway, since he's scared of just about everything, yet steps up to the plate when the situation demands it. This trope is about characters who are thought to be cowards due to their pacifist tendencies.
