Now I'm wondering whether they'd get him or Temuera Morrison back if Fett showed up in live-action again. If either, really. There's always recasts.

but HOW?

I'd be down for Daniel Logan showing up as Boba in a future movie but I wouldn't read too much into that picture. Logan's been building Boba's armor in his free time for a while now so he was probably just showing off how good it looked.

[up] Ah well a guy can dream. tongue

I'd think it be cool if Cad Bane becomes the main antagonist for a Boba movie especially if it adapts one of the unfinished TCW arcs.

Yeah, i should have clarified that it was something for in his spare time. That's my bad. But yeah, I think it would really cool for him to come back play Boba in a film.

Guy looks damn fine in that armor. I wouldn't mind him as the new Boba if they cast him.

Daniel Logan's made it pretty clear that he loves being Boba, he's game to play Boba anywhere, any time, any place, and I wouldn't be surprised if he's been actively pitching himself to Disney to be cast as adult Boba for a while.

Can't fault the guy for his enthusiasm, that's for sure.

He's too old to play the idea I'd want the most out of Boba (I think a kind of coming of age story revolving around the early days of the Empire, starring Boba as he - and the galaxy as a whole - lets go of the illusion of honor he held in his youth and embraces the brutal person he will become, would be the perfect Boba movie), but I still wouldn't mind seeing him as Boba in something new.

I'll echo Cad Bane showing up as The Rival in a Boba Fett movie being a badass idea. I'd also like it if they bring Durge or an expy of him as the film's main villain since he even has a history with the Mandalorian's, he looks cool too.

Idk. Daniel Logan could pass as a TV 20 year old so I think it could still work.

So, here's a thought — say retired New Republic personnel are introduced in IX and the material surrounding it, as kind of like an elder statesman in the Rebellion looking to set things right before he dies. He could be introduced looking at a painting of all the New Republic's admirals from right after the Battle of Jakku, at a party aboard Home One. There's Ackbar, Etain A'baht, Chel Dorat, Hiram Drayson, Traest Kre'fey, etc. — all these officers who would be old as fuck in 34 ABY, and they're all dead, either in battle or of old age. The camera then focuses on him, the stereotypical "rebel flag officer who's way too young." He's clearly younger than everyone else, and he has the flashiest uniform — pure white when the rest wear brown uniforms, a bright red sash, a naval bicorne with a plume. The camera then pulls back, and the same admiral is looking at the painting. He's old, in his sixties. His hair's gone from black to gray, and he has a Seadog Beard. His uniform is frayed and dirty, one of the epaulets is missing, the hat is torn and has a hole from where a stormtrooper once shot it off, the medals are rusting, and the New Republic emblem is covered by a smear of blood; he's battered and come out of a fight, like the NR itself. And then the main action starts. I was thinking of that scene in John Adams where Adams looks at the painting of the signing of the Declaration of Independence — he remarks that it's nothing like how it was in real life, and only he and Jefferson are alive from that generation, becoming emotional that he's become a Living Relic.

The fact Cad Bane had practically no life post-TCW is a minor sin as of itself, so I'm on-board for a Boba movie (as much as I find Boba a useless and boring character) with Bane as a villain.

I think Billy Bob Thornton is a pretty solid suggestion for him, but there are others. I could see Walton Goggins, Kiefer Sutherland. and even Pierce Brosnan in the role.

One of the Star Wars story guys suggests that the reason the old EU was thrown out was cause of Chewbacca's death, though the decision to throw it out was made before he got there. https://www.gamespot.com/articles/chewbacca-and-a-falling-moon-might-have-ended-the-/1100-6456165/

Funny thing about that, apparently the original plan for Vector Prime was for Luke to die in a Heroic Sacrifice and the subsequent series would focus on the Skywalker and Solo kids. The execs didn't like that and the only character big enough that they would let be killed off was Chewie.

"The concept of killing such a character was the decision of the book editors (said to include Randy Stradley, a then-editor at Dark Horse Comics), who sent a list of characters they would like to kill to George Lucas, with Luke Skywalker at the top of the list. The response was what characters they couldn't kill, and Chewbacca wasn't on the list, hence his selection. This is covered – in some detail – in the round table interview with the series editors published at the end of the final New Jedi Order novel, The Unifying Force.

Though Chewbacca is the first major character from the original trilogy who dies in a novel, this is not the first time a talking character from the original trilogy dies in a novel. General Madine, who appears in Return of the Jedi alongside Admiral Ackbar and Mon Mothma, had died in the novel Darksaber, published in 1995. Several other characters from the movies had previously died in novels and tales, such as Het Nkik, the Jawa in the cantina. Mon Mothma's death occurred a few weeks before the events of Vector Prime, and Admiral Ackbar died toward the end of the New Jedi Order series."

[up]Chewie dying because they would not let any of the big 3 die is common knowledge, but being unable to have Chewie return for a movie as a deciding factor to scrap and start over? Interesting if true.

It does make sense in a way. Telling everyday theatergoers "Chewie isn't here, read this random book to find out what happened to him" would be kind of a tall order, no?

[up]It could just be the movie aspect-after the big 3 and 2 droids, Chewie is the biggest good guy screen presence, more so than Lando and far more than what amounts to bit players for every other Rebel.

That's basically what I mean. The average moviegoer has never heard the words "Yuuzhan Vong" in their life, so they will go in expecting Chewie, not get him, and be told they have to read some twenty-year-old book they've never heard of to know what happened to him.

[up][up]That doesn't make any sense. They could easily have kept the broad strokes of the pre-NJO EU, and built the movies off of that.
