An additional part of the problem is that a lot of times, the racists and the trolls are the same people. So you have dicks behaving in ways that piss off their targets, but are supposed to be ignored by everyone else.
Nerd culture is really awesome when it's awesome, but it's really shitty when it's shitty.
Say to the others who did not follow through You're still our brothers, and we will fight for youWhat I heard is that the (probable) trolls started it, but then actual racists picked it up.
Doesn't change the fact there was a willing market buying what they were selling.
Say to the others who did not follow through You're still our brothers, and we will fight for youSo I guess it's non-canon now but would you guys recommend the original Clone Wars cartoons?
It's kinda funny, it looks like it is really short compared to the new one but everyone says the old one was way better.
Because it is. It's a jillion times better.
My various fanfics.I haven't seen the new series so I can't compare them, but I can confirm that the original Star Wars Clone Wars is awesomesauce.
Get the DVD's if you can, because they string the episodes together without opening titles or credits to break them up, so the two halves flow like hour-long movies.
The 2-d clone wars cartoon has better atmosphere and better animation (arguably), but the CGI one is miles and miles ahead when it comes to characterization and storyline. The CGI one approached some deep subjects, like loss, betrayal, the trauma of war, the road to redemption, the fall of heroes, e.t.c
But still, 2D one rocks. Grievous's entrance stands as one of the best entrances of a fictional character I can think of.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."Yeah, and unfortunately there likely always will be. The problem is not "geek culture" or sci-fi fandom, it's how racism infests the culture, period. Trust me, if you could alleviate racism and sexism (actually alleviate it, not just get racists to in general shut up about it so that they never talk about it in real life and it pops up in on-line anonymity)in the culture at large, it wouldn't pop up in geek culture.
I plan to get the DVD's next month.
I'm interested in Asajj Ventress. Kinda confusing though since itseems the new series changes a lot of things.
The CG series makes her more interesting since she's not just a one-note villain that appears for one thing then dies.
Star Wars: The Jar Jar Awakens
Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)Yes she works with SAVAGE OPPRESS, right? Ugh.
Also she was featured in several comics and books before the new series. I remember because I was most active in the SW community back then. Mid-2000s, the time of ROTS, everyone was super active in SW stuff. She got a lot of hype. The Obsession mini got a lot of attention, specifically.

She works with Savage Oppress for about one season. Or to be more accurate half of a season. Out of five.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."I was more just emphasizing the name. As if SW wasn't childish enough.
Eh it's a ridiculous name, but frankly in a universe with names like Darth Maul and motherfucking General Grievous, Savage Oppress is not that out of place.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."Well, it's kind of Theme Naming in Maul and Savage Oppress's name. They have a third brother named Feral.

Well Darth's are titles, not really names.
And General Grievous is intentionally ridiculous. As I recall the good general's backstory, he was a broken husk who Dooku rebuilt both mentally and physically to be as cruel as possible. The Separatists had to look bad, after all.
I definitely don't recommend Tartakovsky's miniseries. It glorfies war to a stupidly ridiculous level even for Star Wars, Grievous, Windu and Yoda are ludricrously overpowered, the characterization is a bare minimum, the drama is shallow, the humour is toilet humor, the artstyle is the usual horrendously lazy Tartakovsky-fair of the time, and while the animation might be fluid, but at the expense of any sort complexity.
As for the childish name of Savage Opress...eh this is the franchise, that had, in it's first installment a Skywalker who flies spectacularly, a Solo, who prefers to work alone, greedy bountyhunter called Greedo and the villain is called Dark Father...

Considering he's made into a living weapon specifically for use by a group of dark side users it's also not really a surprise they named him that.
Asajj Ventress is an actual character in TCW. That is the reason she's great.

PSN ID: FateSeraph | Switch friendcode: SW-0145-8835-0610 Congratulations! She/TheyYeah, Genndy Tartakovsky's Clone Wars is stylish to look at, but it's actually not that good besides the animation style.
I will watch both shows and see for myself.

Just remember that before the Disney canon nuke, Tartakovsky's Clone Wars was pretty much designed as the definitive bridge between AOTC and ROTS. TCW is an after-the-fact tie-in. And I personally prefer the stylized animation and fightscenes, but I'm a Samurai Jack fan to begin with. I find Tartakovsky can add tons of character and dialogue to an otherwise completely silent scene... which is perfect because STAR WARS was never known for its conversations, great one-liners notwithstanding. As the whole thing clocks just over two hours, it's definitely worth watching.
We have a trope that says that viewpoint is fundamentally untrue
