There used to be. But I think even that went down when they took down the thing it was meant to emulate.

But whatever, I've gotten used to unscrambling everything by hand. It leaves the vital stuff alone (PID, what kind of Pokemon it is, moveset, IVs, whatever) but messes with basically everything else. Stuff I have to unscramble includes but is not limited to:

• Nature
• Name
• Trainer ID and name
• Met info
• Trash bytes (To be honest I could just ignore these but I figure it's safe to redo them anyway)

• Caught location

I fix the nature, make sure the name isn't garbage ASCII characters anymore, et cetera. And I change the caught location to Poketransfer, since that's where they would have been met.

Remember, these Pokemon are all 100% legal (apart from the RS/FRLG roamers I tweaked, but that's honestly just an unofficial bug fix that Nintendo never patched themselves because this game is over a decade old, so whatever), but due to the nature of how I'm getting them across games, they're all now technically hacked. I have to make them appear legal by editing stuff like where I met them and making them look absolutely perfectly natural.

And because, apart from the whole data scramble thing, these are legitimate Pokemon, as long as I fix the name/nature/met/caught data, the game should recognise them as such and allow them to be transferred, right?

From what I see, yeah, I would expect that to be the case.

Instead it rejected every single one (apart from a random mew. Okay???)

I went back and checked all the files. The ID numbers were correct, none of them had any illegal movesets or were found in illegal games, they were met at dates that are mathematically possible, shit, my Shinies are real Shinies, I even did trash bytes for data truncation for the nicknames I had to retype when they got corrupted, which believe you me was not easy. So for the longest time, I couldn't figure out what the hell the server was flagging as illegal.

I reset the "met at" location to Poketransfer.

What I was supposed to do was set it to (Poketransfer).

With parentheses.

That's what it was. I didn't put the fucking arbitrary parentheses on it.

So, does putting the parentheses back on fix it or what?

Yep. Worked perfectly.

so now I get to go through all 240~ of these motherfuckers and put parentheses around a word.

I kind of want to throw my DS off my balcony into the lake right now.

apparently the nazi elves which are so powerful and are now pulling the strings so efficiently that no one wants to fight them tried to take over Hammerfell (think of the Middle East if all the swordsmen there could slice so effectively they turned their land into a desert because of their tendency to split fucking atoms by accident)

and when they tried to take over Scalie Land the argonians went full Guerilla Warfare on their asses
