Eh, Keep Until Better Image Suggestion.
The words above are to be read as if they are narrated by Morgan Freeman.I think it's a pull, I'm not sure how high chances of backflips or frontflips imply getting thrown anywhere.
I'm against a pull.
"I know where I am, I just don't know where I am in where I am." - MeKeep Until Better Image Suggested for me.
I came to the trope page with an idea to get an image if the current one was lame, but reading it this trope seems to focus specifically on firearm blowback, so my idea wouldn't much work - the memetic "Fus Ro Dah" Unrelenting Force ability from Skyrim.
Against pull.
If you find the current picture lame, please find a new one. The information in the pie-chart demonstrates the trope, however tacky it may be.
The Internet misuses, abuses, and overuses everything. No picture is better than a bad picture.
That being said, ain't there some image of the Force A Nature in use that we could use?
I have a message from another time...But this one isn't bad.
The Internet misuses, abuses, and overuses everything. So if Blown Across the Room focuses on firearms, and Punched Across the Room focuses on melee attacks, what about examples involving Frickin' Laser Beams? As specified on that page, knockback seems to be even more common in depictions of energy weapons. Likewise with energy-blast-type superpowers and several of the Elemental Powers (especially Blow You Away and Make Me Wanna Shout, the latter as per the memetic Skyrim example).
High Impact Lasers as its own trope, perhaps?
..... What the hell does performing backflips have anything to do with the force of a gunshot propelling your body through the air?
Seriously, I say pull the picture for NOT SHOWING THE TROPE in any conceivable way.
It doesn't show the trope, but it describes the trope. That's at least something.
The Internet misuses, abuses, and overuses everything. No, it doesn't.
- There are plenty of Blown Across the Room examples that involve no flipping whatsoever (e.g. the already-pointed-out FaN)
- It is possible (albeit extremely unlikely) to be shot into a flip without being Blown Across the Room
That said, I probably should have made some sort of suggestion when I started this thread. That said, this trope will by its nature be extremely difficult to depict without a strip. I'm not adept in the art of the all-computer-drawn stick figure, but perhaps a simple before/in-flight/after would do...

"Only now, after being besieged by a flock of talking ponies, did he really understand what he'd lost. "All this would theoretically take is a two-panel pic: one panel showing one stick figure shooting another with the realistic impact and the other showing the trope's impact.
I didn't mean a "describe the entire trope, leaving no stone unturned, and nothing but the trope."
The Internet misuses, abuses, and overuses everything.Clock is set.
Just a note: In Team Fortress 2, a sniper shot to the head will cause the Pyro to do a backflip... Without being Blown Across the Room.
Fight. Struggle. Endure. Suffer. LIVE.Clock's up; locking for inactivity/lack of consensus. No action is to be taken based on this thread.
...seriously? A pie chart?
How exactly is a pie chart supposed to show being blown across the room?
"Only now, after being besieged by a flock of talking ponies, did he really understand what he'd lost. "
