I am a flawed person. In particular I kinda suck at getting things done under solely my own motivation. Really unless I'm dealing with a looming deadline that closes out options or accountability to another person, I suck at getting shit done. Lately this is a problem for me, particularly since I am moving soon (December 9th). So a totally self indulgent checklist with other people knowing about it to enforce accountability.

Right then things to do.

  • Schedule Movers
  • Buy Plane tickets
  • Start estate work
  • Re-title car
  • Arrange transport for my car
  • Find somebody to pick up the plants
  • Get goodwill folks to come over to take the worthless junk I don't want
  • Try to get some estate sale people to buy the stuff I don't want that is actually worth money - Okay that fell through. Just trying to sell stuff online for ridiculously cheap or giving it away now.
  • Keep pestering the ME office for an updated copy of my mom's death certificate
    • When those are in hand, send off paperwork to life insurance people
  • Pay off as many of her medical bills as I can with the estate account
    • In that vein, call people to get a total since she has gone to the same hospital and used the ambulance multiple times. Writing one check to each establishment would be preferable
  • Start packing up stuff
    • Books
    • DV Ds/Vidya
    • Dishes
    • Clothes
    • Decorations and sentimental stuff and collectible nerd shit
  • Put in change of address with bank
  • Schedule to get internet and electricity hooked up at my new place
  • Get help going through my mom's old documents to see what are worth keeping
  • Try to start off CNA license reciprocity between Arizona and Wisconsin State Boards of Nursing

And that's about all I can think of for now.

Figure out what to do with the food at the old place and how to get food at the new place.

I'm just going to have to buy new food when I get there since I am moving across states. Other than that I guess I'll just try to clean out the fridge and pantry and not buy new stuff.

Re: Food - find a food bank or homeless shelter; most of them are probably running food drives for the holidays anyway, so will be glad to take whatever you've got. Shelters are a better bet for fridge/freezer stuff, but there are some food banks that take them too.

Why are you paying someone to ship your car and fly to your destination? Why not drive there? It's bound to be far cheaper, if somewhat more time-intensive, and you'll get opportunity to sightsee along the way.

Dry stuff and non-perishables like canned goods, flour, noodles, rice, sugar and such can be packed and shipped. If you're allowed to have stuff in the car as it's being shipped, pack the food in boxes and put it in the trunk. It's surprising how expensive restocking completely from scratch can be. Food banks and shelters won't accept opened packages, so your choices are take it along, throw it out, or give it to friends.

Wash dishes, dust off electronics, mend books, do all laundry and fold it before you pack them/sell them off.
