The Halo franchise, at least before Bungie handed it off to a different team. Yes, the story's as dreadfully dull as the setting. Yes, the gameplay is very basic. Yes, the diehard fanbase are comprised of tweens and college-aged dumbasses. Yes, the vehicles handle like ass, or rather, I think they handle like ass. But it's a fun game that I can immediately pick up and play with friends that isn't weighed down by many frills.

Modern Warfare (All 3).

Yes. You heard that right, I said Modern Warfare.

NOW, let me explain.

Yes, its true, theres a lot of "13 years old" (Because begin inmmaure OBVIOUSLY has to do with your age, right?) invading both online gameplay, as well as the series overall. I fail to see how this is the games fault, honestly.

Overpowered perks/unbalanced gameplay? This one IS debatable, however they DO try to get more balanced stuff overall in the games, plus, I belive its more balanced than a lot of people make it to be.

The whole "Oh look, another COD thats exactly the same as the others, COD 4 was ok but this is just more of the same. I wonder how many people they are going to get to waste their money now"...

This is, by FAR, the one that make me laugh the most.

Lets see, so you enjoined COD 4, for example. Yet you belive Cod 6 is the worst game in existence created EVER, because its the same...

So, basically you are hating what you liked before solely because its a sequel? I honestly never understood this. Yes, Its more of the same. The same game that you enjoined before. But now you hate it for no apparent reason at all... wasting money? OK, then dont buy it, fine. Everyone has opinion. What I dont get is why you just NEED to go and declare eternal war on COD instead of just letting it and its fans be...

Also, its not "the exact same as always", they actually do change stuff between games, like perks, maps, a whole new sistem of pointstreaks for MW 3, etc...

Also about the single player, well now thats subjetive, but I personally thougt it was fun, even if the story didnt made much sense. But at the end, it was FUN, and, at least for me, thats what I search in games, so yeah.

I could go on a bit more but the post its get too long.

Oh yeah, a last thing. Obviously, you are free to dislike the game for gameplay reasons and whatnot, as I already said, everyone has opinions. I am just stating why I think its overehated, And I honestly a bit tired of the BF 3 fans bashing this game (not only them, thougt) even thougt both games are excellent. Why we cant just stick to what we like instead of begin retarded fanboys?...

Anyways, just my thougts. And for the record, No, I am not a COD faggot nor a fanboy (I AM a 15 year old, if you are one of those who belive than begin underage = Total retard who cant say an opinion at all), althougt in all fairness COD was one of my first shooters (Along with Counter Strike and Left 4 dead), so I MAY be a bit biased, but that dosnt changes the facts.

I just needed to say all of that, and this was the perfect thread for it, thank you op, thanks TVTROPES smile.

(oh yeah, and excuse me for my English level...)

EDIT: Please note, this post was made BEFORE I actually readed the thread, So I am quite suprised than people already said COD too...

Lol. Well, this is TVTROPES after all, were people are (mostly) pretty reasonable. Again, thank you guys grin

A Mission Pack Sequel is not necessarily bad in itself. But it should try to have maps that are at least as fun as the original. Doom II does that very well. But from what I saw, CoD doesn't really do that. I played three games and everyone seemed more boring than the last one, simply because I have the impression that I have already seen everything.

But I don't derive much long-term fun from CoD anyway and I'm more fond of "Classic FPS" in general. I guess, I'm just a bit frustrated that the trend shifted to more "realistic" shooters.

I think Co D gets just about the right amount of hate, actually.

^ The trend towards "realistic" shooters is indeed disheartening. Hopefully Valve will release Half-Life 3 soon and show everyone what a good FPS is supposed to be like again.

I hate COD with a passion but I hate how EVERYONE IS TRYING TO GET THE COD AUDIENCE AND CHANGING THE GAMES FOR THE WORSE TO DO SO even more so.

[up][up][up] Thats funny..

I like COD, but I also like other shooters like CS, L 4 F, Half life and even stuff that has nothing at all to do with cod style like Serious Sam... lol.

[up][up] And [up]

yeah, while I love COD, I really dont like so many games of its style, find your own style thank you very much.

I mean, you cant lose if you do that. You will not get bashed by cod fans for it feeling like a copy, not from the general audience that hates cod and dosnt wants anything like it...

I like how eager you are to disprove the last sentence in NONAMEGIVEN's post.

Damn, I really want to play Serious Sam. But the only version I can find is the HD one, for which Steam is necessary. And with that awful connection that I have...

Oh, and also Painkiller. But the only game I find is the Resurrection one, of which I haven't heard good things.

Its because of video game publishers who think they know what they are doing with this stupid mindset "COD is popular, if we make our game like COD it will be too!"

Don't get me wrong with this. I do acknowledge that COD after the first Modern Warfare is overhated (just look at the Metacritic user scores, although many of the top negative comments are actually coherent with legitimate complaints), but at the same time, it's overrated. GROSSLY overrated, because Activision HYPED the everloving hell out of the franchise. But yes, overhated because of what Activision has been doing with it in recent years, riding the coattails of the first Modern Warfare, changing nothing in the eyes of gamers, and don't forget about the scandal resulted from sacking both of Infinity Ward's CEOs.

As far as I know, Luigis Mansion gets far too much hate. Just because it isn't a platformer doesn't mean it's not a fun game!

Mario Party, moreso for the later incarnations, especially as everyone (including this site) claims each game is just the same as the last several. Sure, if you look at the game as a board game with minigames thrown in, one could make that case. But the heart of the Mario Party series is in the minigames, and each game gives us a different set of those, with many really fun ones in each game. And these new minigames easily make every single Mario Party game a worthwhile purchase.

I can understand why some people didn't like Final Fantasy XIII but it was good in it's own way. By the way some people talk about it, you'd think it killed their family and cut their cheeks.

Seeing all these piss ant tropers trying to talk tough makes me laugh. If Matrix were here, he'd laugh too.
