I want to do a picture for Selkies, but so far most of the pictures I'm finding involve full or partial nudity, like this one here which may not be considered "safe for work".

So far, this is the best I can find. This isn't going to cause any problems, will it? I think it is okay, but I just wanted to consult the troper hivemind first before implementing it.

I like that second one a great deal. Better than the first one, which could be a problem.

The second one's interesting...I'd be fine with it as long as we get permission. The first is definitely over the SFW line.

I love the second one, because it really shows the wearing of the seal skin. Should I ask for permission?

If that image falls through, we can always ask about this.

Definitely, ask for permission on the second one.

[up][up][up] I was under the impression that Selkies were traditionally Always Female One-Gender Race

The 2nd picture kinda looks like a woman wearing a seal skin. If the seal head itself wasn't there, it would look less so.

Which is just right for selkies, because they become humans by taking their seal skins off, almost like clothing. It usually isn't a morphing transformation like you see in werewovles.

Ghilz: Nope! Selkies come in both male and female flavor, traditionally.

[up] Good for Image Links, not so much for the page pic.

The author has given permision as long as we give credit. Given that we would have to edit out the signature to make it fit our size requirements, are we allowed to link the image or the caption to the author's Deviantart profile?

We can link either the pic or the caption to the actual artwork, and note the "used with permission" in the hidden tag.

Alternatively, the caption could be the name of the work and the artist's name, linked to the actual artwork, with the "used with permission" in the tag.

We tend to directly link either the image or the caption to their DA page with a %% note in the page text that this is the artist and she gave permission. We're good to our DA people.
