If they already think like that, near 100%.
Just cram DJ Shadow's first record down their throat, they'll listen eventually.
go ahead and do every stupid thing you can imagineJust don't say you use Garageband, and make sure you don't use anything that would identify it as Garageband.
The 5 geek social fallacies. Know them well.I hate the term "garage band" I prefer "unsigned band"
Untitled Power Rangers StoryDid you even read the OP? Garageband is recording/music production software, like Pro Tools or FL Studio.
"It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open one’s mouth and remove all doubt." - Some guy with a snazzy hat.Except it doesn't have several basic functions a DAW should have, like tempo or time signature change.
The 5 geek social fallacies. Know them well. You can't change tempo in Garageband? Jeez, I have Audacity and I can change tempo. Manually only, but still.
go ahead and do every stupid thing you can imagineWhat nane means is that it lacks the ability to mark tempo and time signature changes in the song itself. Audacity is not a DAW.

I know, that's why I was surprised.
Still, that makes things a bit clearer.
go ahead and do every stupid thing you can imagineWell, GarageBand is a hardline hobbyist DAW that's not concerned with relative complexities such as time signature changing. Apple has Logic and Logic Pro for pandering to professionals.

There's a way around the inability to change tempos, though. If I want a piece with a tempo change, I just use two different projects with two different tempos, export the audio files after I'm done with them, then combine them in a third project file.
Nothing to see here.Or you could just automate the tempo...
Most of the people who rag on Garageband, as far as I can tell, have never actually used Garageband.
I'll hide your name inside a word and paint your eyes with false perception.I can't use Garageband. I haz a Windows.
go ahead and do every stupid thing you can imagineI don't know; I'm actually quite impressed by people who can use Garageband well, because I never progressed beyond the absolute basics of Sibelius as far as songwriting technology goes.
Just dropping in to complain about the lack of a version of GarageBand for Windows machines. :/

Insert witty and clever quip here. My page, as the database hates my handle.
I'm in the process of writing my own songs (lyrics and music). I might end up playing a CD of it for some random person I know. When they inevitably ask how I made the music, I will tell the truth and say, "I used my keyboard as a piano and played it on Garageband." What are the chances of them thinking I'm (and these aren't my words)* "a complete noob who relies on loops and mistakenly thinks they have musical talent," despite the fact that I wrote the music to the song, but just happened to produce it in Garageband?
Basically, what are the chances they'll hear, "Garageband" and tune out immediately?
I'm not using loops in my songs at all, but I have nothing against anyone who does. I'm going to play all of the parts using the software instruments. I used to be able to read music (but I forgot it due to lack of practice and am brushing up on it), but I fortunately have the ability to play/recognize a melody or chord progression by ear.
