Well, the sales of the 3DS in its first few months are higher than they were for the DS back in 2004.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gFmGNqji4u0But why did it go down?
Alt account of Angeldog 2437.Ouch! =( Hopefully it's going to get better in the following months what with Mario Kart 7, Super Mario 3D Land, Skyward Sword, and other games coming out the next month!
Fantastic Supreme Überkaiser Emperor Folt of The Infinity and Beyond" ... "The First"!I'm... not surprised. A very bad 3DS launch kind of hurt them.
If they were patient, they would've gotten a lot better stuff. I'll be honest: The gimmicks don't have a very long lasting value. People are more interested in quality, and new ideas. The remakes don't always cut it when people have the originals via the VC. So they're not nearly as often bought. And even then, what else do they have?
Quest 64 threadI hope so.
The Wii U is a bit of an Elephant in the Room, however. Nintendo stated that they want the launch line-up to be mostly comprised of third-party games. They did the same thing with the 3DS. Unfortunately, the games were (mostly) crap.
Then again, the Wii U has the benefit of having big-name HD games attached to it(Batman Arkham City, Ninja Gaiden 3, Battlefield 3), and thus can attract the 360PS3 crowd, but those are ports. We need substantial exclusives, more or less.

It's not so much what they currently have but what they're going to get. A lot of big games are going to start coming out within the next few months. Next year also promises to have numerous games that are worth getting.
I think ports are actually a better idea at this point. It gives developers more time to experiment with the system. That way they can figure out how to make good games for the system rather than junk like the Wii got.

.......Why am I so happy???
http://steamcommunity.com/id/Xan-Xan/Cheer up Booky! *hugs*
In any case, I have faith that Nintendo will get out of this crisis as well.
Fantastic Supreme Überkaiser Emperor Folt of The Infinity and Beyond" ... "The First"!@Kostya: Decent point. It also seems to be winning over developers too, so naturally they can experiment.
@Folt: Point too. Nintendo has climbed over serious hurdles, but this seems to be an even bigger hurdle than usual.
@LOEDITO: We are trying to have a peaceful conversation on this matter, we do not need Trolls.

Probably due to Hype Backlash, since all we've heard from the DS for the last several years is "IT PRINTS MONEY!!". I guess even the most meteoric rise can't last forever,

He hates Nintendo. That's why.
... Damn. I see why this happened. Hopefully they can recover.

You got some dirt on you. Here's some more!More or less, someone with a history of hating Nintendo tends to add nothing to... a conversation about Nintendo.

What Mr W said.
@Kostya: Yes, but I'm not surprised because they didn't have much at the time. That's all. It looks like sales may get better due to new games coming out. I just prefer less remakes. Not bad, or anything, but really, we want new ideas.
Quest 64 thread,, They can certainly recover, I'm sure of it! After all, Legend Of Zelda and Mario are Cash Cow Franchises after all and it's Christmas season soon no less.

Fantastic Supreme Überkaiser Emperor Folt of The Infinity and Beyond" ... "The First"!Well, of course it's their worst year in ages. This is an "in-between" year. They're almost done with the Wii, and the 3DS hasn't gotten out of its launch stage yet (bear in mind, it's currently doing better than the DS was at this point). Things will pick up.

Infinite Tree: an experimental storyThe problem is that sales standards have dramatically increased. Comparing sales figures from 2004 and now isn't really fair.
Sorry, I can't hear you from my FLYING METAL BOX!Still, there are sorts that are running out onto forums saying "Nintendo is DEEEEEAAAAD!!!!!11one!" This includes Michael Pachter.
While this is a hefty loss, is it enough for people to completely lose their shit?

True. The 3DS HAS done much better after they cut the price though, and as said above, new AAA games will be out soon. There's no reason to believe that they may not recover just yet.
I don't think so. Most tend to be Trolls anyways.

Fantastic Supreme Überkaiser Emperor Folt of The Infinity and Beyond" ... "The First"!Nintendo will most likely recover, the 3ds has sold around 6 million units at the time of writing and a good amount of content is coming out in November. but don't take this as a sign of Nintendo kicking the bucket. The company has Mario and Pokemon, they've made millions off merchandising alone for pokemon. So yeah DON'T PANIC!
Let's just face it! When a new main Mario or Pokémon Game (or a spinoff, doesn't matter which) comes out, they'll be back to printing money!
Fantastic Supreme Überkaiser Emperor Folt of The Infinity and Beyond" ... "The First"!I blame this squarely on the 3DS's lack of a second analog stick. Yes, I am that single minded.
I do hope Nintendo makes a comeback though. They're the only ones that support Split Screen anymore.
Bleye knows Sabers.Frankly, Game Freak has plans to make some, ...Or So I Heard.
Because you're a very silly fanboi.
well actually, the problem is that the 3DS is sold at loss since the price cut.
that being said, let's see how the 3DS does before writing off Nitnendo. doom and gloom predictions are dumb.
All I can say is... damn.
With the 3DS trying to gain its wings and with the Wii on its last legs, this actually isn't surprising. However, then you get into the fact that almost the exact same thing happened to Sega(and we all know how that went), you know they're in a dire situation right now.
