Aladdin was what inspired me to animate for a living. Therefore, I'm sad that Disney doesn't see it as the most important of their Silver Age films.
Well, there was the feud they had with Robin Williams over it (due to Disney breaking their agreement over featuring the Genie in just 25% of all advertising).
More Buscemi at http://forum.reelsociety.com/I also read in an Art Of book that the executives weren't too keen on the extreme squash-and-stretch the directors gave all the characters in that film, when referencing the Abu-transformation scene saying, "I hope you enjoyed animating that, because we're never going to animate like that again." I don't think the company sees it as one of their best.

For those not in the know, Cinderella is getting a Diamond Edition this fall, and Aladdin was going to have a 20th Anniversary Edition but will be released as a Diamond Edition next spring. Those were confirmed with the the Diamond Edition release of Lady and the Tramp, which will have a DVD version later this month. There are also rumors/confirmations of The Rescuers being put together with The Rescuers Down Under for a 2013 release. With The Little Mermaid getting a 3D theatrical release in the fall of 2013 and a likely Blu-ray/DVD Diamond Edition release coming out around the same time, we can expect the "Rescuers" bundle to be released as a Platinum Edition (or something else like they did with Fantasia/Fantasia 2000) Spring 2013.

I'm still waiting for Winnie The Pooh And Great Mouse Detective Blu ray
You are displaying abnormally high compulsions to over-analyze works of fiction and media. Diagnosis: TV Tropes Addiction.Update: The Cinderella Diamond Edition DVD + Blu-ray combo pack is available for pre-order on Amazon.com without a set date. It will include the Tangled Ever After short as a bonus.
Btw, does anyone have a Lady And The Tramp Diamond Edition booklet they can show us scans of? I've heard it confirmed about 2 or 3 upcoming releases.

I find it both funny and sad that their 3D re-releases are major sellouts yet their recent additions to 2D animation were both minor financial sucesses.
And shit, I have a bunch of Blu-Rays + DVD's to buy (Lady And The Tramp and The Lion King II on Blu-Ray. The Fox And The Hound (If the Blu-ray is sold out) and Pocahontas on DVD)
BTW, is Fantasia2000 on Blu-Ray, or only DVD?

I'm having to learn to pay the priceI think Blu-ray and DVD, according to Wikipedia:
So you might be outta luck on that.
That's what internet is for, though if you manage to find it shelf-warming somewhere...
I wonder, Disney kind of jumped the gun with their release of Lion King. Lion King would've had it's 20th anniversary in 2014. Then again, that would've made it literally 10 years since it's previous release.
I actually did last weekend. Fantasia can be found, but it'll be a pain in the ass. I saw a still in the box copy at a F.Y.E. when I was taking a mini vacation in Miami. Best shot is if you want a copy, check out your local electronics/cd stores.

I'm having to learn to pay the price(pats Pippi on the head)
There there.
Although, come to think of it, I'm probably screwed, seeing as most of my family's Disney collection was on VHS...

"Oh no, Sanji's Chronic Simprosis!" - Kou The MadI know that feel.
Out of curiosity, do you live in North America/the U.S.? Here, both of the Fantasia Blu-rays are packaged together (unless you're buying it used, which means you risk losing either disc).
Pippi's from the land down under.
"Oh no, Sanji's Chronic Simprosis!" - Kou The MadMy collection was all VHS, I'm working to fix that.
Drat. Looks like I'm gonna have to import...
I also need to get Bolt, Meet the Robinsons and Winnie the Pooh :J
I'm having to learn to pay the priceGOTTA GO FAST CATCH EM ALL!
There's not much added for the Cinderella re-release. I think I'd rather keep my Platinum Edition and just bootleg the Tangled Ever After short. :/
Amazon's ready for next year's Blu-ray release of...

Didn't Little Mermaid just get a Blu-ray release like 3 years ago?
Nope. Platinum Editions didn't have Blu-rays until Sleeping Beauty, and I think the only other one to do so is Pinocchio. Maybe you're thinking of the TLMII re-release and the subsequent 3-movie box set.
Okay, gotcha. Might have to pick this and Aladdin up. Wasn't the biggest Little Mermaid fan, but it has the most catchy songs of all the Disney films.
I just realized, maybe Flounder commissioned some friends to recreate the Eric statue using smaller stones they brought into the Grotto. Or whatever. >_>
Anyone else planning to get The Rescuers combo pack or Cinderella? I'm still on the fence about the latter, but I reserved the former today along with Arrietty.
Btw, The Rescuers trades in for ~$5.49 at Moviestop, so that should help y'all get a movie in case you were thinking of replacing it. The cashier said Rescuers was coming out around November.
I plan on getting both- Wait, did you say combo pack? WITH DOWN UNDER?
Screw Cinderella, the Rescuers Combo Pack for me.

So far, we've got Beauty and the Beast and The Little Mermaid getting ready for their theatrical 3D debuts within the next couple of years, with BATB's second Diamond Edition already available for purchase. We're also getting a Diamond Edition of Cinderella, a 20th Anniversary Edition of Aladdin, and some Platinum Edition releases, the only one of which I heard was The Rescuers.
Basically, just share opinions and news on Disney Animated Canon re-releases. Also, if anyone knows what other Platinum Edition releases there'll be, I'd be interested to know.
