How's panel 5 of this Girl Genius strip?

I really like the last two panels of that one.
Fight smart, not fair.[1]◊

That's...a mess.
That's...an understatement.
Hm, does that time Bruce Willis beat the yellow headed guys head into paste from Sin City count?
Fight smart, not fair.^ That one's more along the lines of Extreme Mêlée Revenge, I think.
There's this one scene in The Walking Dead (comic) where Rick beats a serial killer's face so bad he breaks all his fingers. I'll scan the pages later and see if I can make a good collage.
Girl Genius is fine, no ?
Yeah, I'm cool with that. He looks real mad, she looks real bloody. I think it works.
The panel before this one has some exposition, but I think this panel alone does a better job of emphasizing the visual aspects of the trope—the extra text is on the wordy side, and it would distract from that focus. Linking to the full strip in the caption should be fine.

Rhymes with "Protracted."No, I'd much rather this have a fictional example as opposed to something from Real Life, even if it's staged.
The GG single-panel pic could work, but I prefer the actual beating pic, or both together.

two panel version
Belief or disbelief rests with you.I don`t know, that one doesn`t strike me as particularly obvious, and the facial expression on the second panel is kind of narmy-looking anyway.
"The Daily Show has to be right 100% of the time; FOX News only has to be right once." - Jon StewartYou need to un-right align the pic. As far as it looking narmy, that's a consenquence of Foglio's art style...I think it's fine.

ORA ORA ORA ORA
ORA ORA ORA ORA
ORA ORA ORA ORA
ORA ORA ORA ORA
ORA ORA ORA ORA
That was hilarious for some reason.
Anyway, not really sold on any of the options yet. Speaking of Fight Club (staged, above), what about the scene where Ed Norton beats Jared Leto to a pulp in the film? Is that an example?
The words above are to be read as if they are narrated by Morgan Freeman.I believe it would be, but I fear it'd be too gory to be used.

I'd say the two-panel version looks best. Maybe a bit much conversation, but it does a better job of showing the trope.
The current image is fine. I see a guy getting hit by another guy. Put the rest on image links.
Yeah, I know, cartoon characters can take a lot of punishment but anyone with any know how should know an uppercut that knocks someone off their feet like that could easily be fatal. Bart Gun and Butterbean brawl for all. You know exactly what I'm talking about Russo haters.
This page is about beating people up, the image is about a guy getting beat up. It is not inaccurate nor is it misleading. The rest go on image links.
Modified Ura-nage, Torture RackCurrent image isn't clear, and really doesn't show the extent of a thorough beating.
The fight I think of when I come to this trope (and how much it disturbed me) was Spopovich vs Videl in Dragonball Z. As I'd just edited into that example, it actually ends with himstanding on her head and attempting to crush it on the ground, while she's crying in pain and is visibly beaten around the face. If I had any desire to see that fight again, I'd upload an image to show how bad it was, but I don't want to. It's both literal and figurative, so I think it's about as good an image as we can get.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyWoah page stretching like crazy here.
Alt account of Angeldog 2437.I think we need a Ratigan image.
If you eat a live frog in the morning, nothing worse will happen to either of you for the rest of the day.The Hercules Boss fight from God of War III? Hell, any boss fight from God of War III. Kratos hands these out like candy.
Wonder if that'd be too gory, though.

Nominations for replacement images:
When I looked at this page a few minutes ago, I expected to see Ratigan about to pummel Basil, from The Great Mouse Detective. However, to my surprise, I saw a blurred mess of bodies. Only by reading the page quote could I surmise that a beatdown was occurring in the image, so I went into the history and replaced the image, only to realize once I replaced it that there was another Ratigan image, and that it's not very good either. I looked farther back to find another Ratigan image, and I suppose my memory doesn't serve me well, since it's not that good either.
This page needs a really good image.
