Yep, the page image on Straw Fan is a fan, made of straw. Obviously that's not what the trope is about.

Is this funny enough to stay, or should we pull because it doesn't demonstrate anything?

I like it. smile

Also I think that it'll be hard to picture it normally.

you pretty much answered your own question...

We could add a word balloon of the fan saying something strawfan-esque.

We don't have a ban or anything on Visual Puns. This one's pretty funny, I think.

Rhymes with "Protracted."

[up]While we don't have a problem with visual puns from time to time, we do have problems with those.

What? By using that picture on this page, we essentially say 'This is what some people incorrectly picture all twilight fans as'. Isn't that pretty much the opposite of a take that?

This implies, quite correctly, that my mind is dark and damp and full of tiny translucent fish.

Not really. It is mean-spirited any way you look at it. The straw fan image is at least funny without being snide.

This is a preliminary version of what I had in mind. If someone can add a better line, or make the image look better, please do so.

Well, that sucks. Why in the world would you throw gasoline on that flame war? We just got the flames out.

That's why I wrote "If someone can add a better line". If you have something that just shows the fan acting like this trope, we can see how it works.

The point is there is no reason to throw gasoline on anybody's flame war.

Then a line that doesn't reference a flame bait line would by definition be better. Let me whip up something else.

EDIT: Having a weird thing on my image program. Anyway, what I mean by a better line would be something that seems like something a straw fan would say, but not actually reference anything that would cause a flame war. Any suggestions on that?

That's more what Fan Haters make of fans of the show, while this is more like what the creators make of those fans.

It works well enough for me.

Mind you, what would be even better is a pic of someone saying that while fanning themselves with a straw fan...

Yeah, that feels like something other than this trope.
