Systems implemented halfway and then condemned as useless and ineffective, a massive military which goes on ham-handed foreign adventures every decade or two at irreparable expense in lives, material, and money, a corrupt system that is far-reaching and drags any attempt by other nations to reform themselves down, and an apathetic populace of sheeple and lemmings who care little so long as they are contented with their brainwashed lives.

I am thoroughly unsurprised at the hatred of the world.

If that's how you really feel about the country, leave. Go somewhere else more in tune with your beliefs, don't paint the rest of us with that brush,

What i said was "Love us or die!", That's teddy roosevelt's big stick. this is "Stop hating us when we're giving you free money!"

Some of it's rediculous, like the millions we are sending to Russia. What have they EVER done for us?!?

[up][up][up] Ah yes the old "Love it unconditionally or leave it" attitude, I missed that so much during the Bush era.

[up][up][up][up]USAF probably thinks other countries are worse, though.

Seriously, USAF, your cynicism is getting a bit exhausting.

[up]So far as I can tell, not hit us with their thousands of nukes is about the only thing Russia has done for us lately.

Most of that aid money is probably meant to keep it that way.

Some countries are worse than the US. Some are better. Some are the same. This should be obvious.

Ideally, the objective should be to fix the system, not walk away from it. Not liking it gives one the perspective to identify problems. Fools give up. Idealists attempt to reform.

[up][up] Thats not a favor, because they do that, we nuke them harder. We can shoot down some nukes too, so they'll be worse off for it.

[up] It's a one step system, we give you money to help you! The only thing that needs fixing is their additude!

I am pessimistic and critical, but that doesn't mean I don't want to fix it, or that I would walk away from it.

^^^^ You don't fix the system by painting it and its people as the blackest of evils and crappiest of worlds. That's how you get outnumbered, outgunned, and outvoted.

Thread Hop

Tom, Did you not see the crowds that Obama got on his European tours? The guy made it cool to like America all over again.

But I think people are hating on America because all this shit started when the sub-prime debt held by American banks got toxic and infected the world.

We have a saying, "When American sneezes the rest of the world gets a cold" so yeah what do you think would happen when America got a double ampuation(sp).

The system is far from the blackest of evils. We've seen much, much worse in our time here on Earth.

I don't think the people are evil, either. Just uncaring and convinced of their own rightness, half of which applies to me as well. Such is how the world keeps turning.

@Fullofstars: generally, Free Trade agreements with the US are structured in such a way that the US gets the lions share of the profit and drives the other person into debts.

Wanna know why so many nations are corrupt dictatorships? A lot of times because the US created those dictatorships in order to help multinational corporations exploit workers for mass profit.

Yet that paragraph you wrote up there paints with the exact same brush of the blackest of evils.

@ OP

If America does something negative to a country, a segment of it's population is likely to be quite vocal about it because the domestic regime isn't going to care to save face for the USA. For instance, you mentioned Japan there, except you also said they explicitly complained about some trade agreement. That would appear to be their reason right there.

I'm going to refrain from a massive outburst over the statement of "only shown friendship to the world for over a century".

That's actually only a sentence.

And, no it isn't. Perhaps you have a different standard of "the blackest of evils," however. Such is how "good" and "evil" work, after all.

[up][up][up][up][up] Most of those dictators were to keep the communists out. The buisness explotation was a side thing universally considered a mistake now. Besides by some really evil CE Os perhaps.

Some of those communists were popularly voted for. We don't get to tell other countries' people what they can and can't vote for. That's ridiculous. And yet we did it anyway.

And thats why they hate you because the self-declared leader of the free world and defender of democracy in their eyes is nothing more than a thug with the biggest stick. At least the Chinese dont lie when they steal other countries resources.

[up] [up] The commies that got voted in were either because there were rebels killing whoever else tried to run, or the soviets giving them a ton of stuff to make communism look nice.

[up] Oh yes they do. just ask the tibetans who had been independant for centuries about being "Re-united" with china. When we intervein for economic reasons, 99/100 times we've said it was to protect our intrests. not the right thing to do, but we were'nt hiding it.

Not really. The instant the USA pulled out, all those people voted in socialists. They're doing quite fine on their own with what was basically considered communism back then.

Honestly, I usually take whatever is seen in these little protests with a grain of salt. While it might be indicative of some underlying feelings to a larger extent, the fellows who go around yelling DEATH TO AMERICA/ISLAM/COMMIES/JAYWALKING are often a Vocal Minority , at least in the severity of what they're proclaiming.
