Unhealthy trope: Ive Fallen And I Cant Get Up

First off, stats:

I've Fallen And I Can't Get Up found in: 6 articles, excluding discussions.

This title has brought 4 people to the wiki from non-search engine links since 20th FEB '09.

Now, I don't see anything wrong with the name (other than the fact that it's a stock phrase), or the description. I just think the article needs some serious love.

Also, we've gone under 1000 articles! Celebrations are in order.

What I'm guessing is that the name sounds like it's too specific. The meme that goes with that particular name is much narrower than "Person falls and can't get up alone".

A name like that is pretty awkward to type correctly, which would explain its underuse. Also, yeah, it's a meme, and a really old one at that, and one that doesn't appear to mean what the trope is about.

It seems to me this name is just being clever for the sake of it (and at the expense of clarity), and I'd prefer a different name.

The old ptitle has been cut; I've updated the tag(stats for the new page are sixteen wicks and four inbounds). Given the support for a rename, I've created a single prop crowner here.

Yeah we definitely need to rename this. Its a stock quote, its has poor use, all around bad.

Cripling Trip?

Ironic that this trope has fallen and can't get up.

But yeah, it needs a rename.

The crowner's been up for three and a half days and has never been in danger of falling below the 2:1 ratio. I think we can call it.

Dramatic Trip? Unless that sounds too much like a journey. Maybe 'Slip' would be better. Dunno.

Dramatic Slip seems better, though we should really keep trying to come up with something better still.

Calling the crowner in favour of a rename. Alt titles crowner created and hooked.

I voted down everything with "disabling" or "crippling" in the title, because that makes it seem like it's about someone becoming handicapped as a result.

So far Dramatic Slip is my favourite. I'd consider Dramatic Fall my 2nd-favourite, but apart from the "autumn" connotation of "fall," it could sound like it's about falling from high places. Stuff with "trip" in the title seems like it could simply be about going on a trip.

Dramatic Slip is my favorite too, for the same reasons.

As of this post, Dramatic Slip is 4 points in the green. The 2nd most popular option, Crippling Fall, is at 0, and it sounds like it is about someone becoming handicapped as a result, so it really is not a good option anyway. The rest of the options are at -3 or less, putting Dramatic Slip 7 points ahead of them.

I say it's time to call this.

Not a particularly inspiring vote count, but alright, calling in favour of Dramatic Slip.

Yes. The votes were moving very slowly, and the 2nd-highest-ranked option had a lot of potential for confusion, and the leading option was 7 points ahead of the rest of them.

I've Fallen and I Can't Get Up is now a redirect for Dramatic Slip, the wicks should be fixed, I sent a report to move the discussion page, and there are now notes about the change on the Renamed Tropes page and in the renamed tropes thread. A few of the examples were snipped for being misuse for the stock phrase, but that means that there really are not many examples left which could be an issue.

I also made an Image Pickin' thread for the trope here given the fact that the current image is based on the stock phrase meaning of the trope rather than its actual meaning.

It is probably a good idea to do a quick check of this rename in case I made any mistakes.
