It was funny seeing Frank Capone from Boardwalk Empire on the show shortly after they filled him full of lead Sonny Corleone-style. =P
Kid!Shaw was great. "I'm hungry. Can I have a sandwich?"
And Carter was the queen this episode, schoolin' that punk.

Best episode since...uh...the last episode.
They finally start sticking it to HR, and Carter's far more clever than we thought. Finch and Co. played them like a fiddle, HR has no idea what they're dealing with.
Always wanted to see Reese fight either Elia's or HR's number twos, since the first season. Simmons seemed like a formidable opponent, and he was at first, but of course, corrupt policemen are no match for highly-trained spooks.
Finch and Co. have a large advantage over HR, and finding the boss is only a matter of time...unless Root/The Machine or Elias throw a wrench in that somewhere.
All this time here and I still haven't fully grasped how spoilers work.

I'm really liking the balance we've gotten this far this season with adding Shaw to the team, balancing developing her character more, and still handling everybody else.
Improving as an author, one video at a time.My mom is really creeped out by Root. I find this entertaining.
Somehow you know that the time is right.Root is pretty terrifying.
I love Shaw. She seems to get a lot of hate from people, for whatever reason, but I absolutely love her character. I'm so glad there's a lot of strong and capable female characters on this show. It's like women are people, or something. ;p
There are people who dislike Shaw? Huh. Well, I do need to get on to other boards and such more.
Regardless, agreed as her being a fave. Really glad they kept her around since she adds another angle to the show & the team. Though my liking of her has nothing to do with the whole strong female character stuff. Truth be told, I actually not as attached to that concept as some people can be, though I understand the feelings behind it. Personally, I think whether a character is male or female shouldn't be all that pressing. I just like capable characters in general, whether it's Reece being a badass in the field in his own way, Shaw kicking ass doing her sniper thing, Carter doing whatever she is, Fosco - WE HAVEN'T SEEN MUCH OF HIM THIS SEASON D: - or so forth.
Improving as an author, one video at a time.Yeah, the show is severely lacking in Fusco. :/
Fusco needs ties to something other than the HR subplot, since Carter has long since ganked it from him and is running circles around the opposition.
Kevin Chapman did say that he's "coming back in a big way", though.
Least the trade off ultimately works out, mainly just because I've enjoyed Shaw's addition and I know how difficult it would be to fit too many elements. Fusco can still help at least in the detective role, though I'm wondering what he'll be up to outside of the HR potential plotline. That and if his past with HR is going to come back to haunt him soon once more or what.
Improving as an author, one video at a time.Fusco needs to be more than "that stout middle aged guy who's the butt of everyone's jokes". The episode where he saves a Russian supermodel was a good start.
Yeah, I really like Shaw, although it can be easy to turn her into a caricature through incompetent writing. That said, I would gladly have less Fusco if in exchange we have more of "Relevance" or "Razgovor". Shaw is an incredibly compelling character when she is allowed to be a character.
Of course, I also have a Sarah Shahi bias left over from "Life".
Well any character can be turned into caricatures with bad writing. Regardless, as I see it, it's fair enough trade off since she's still a fresh character who we're getting into the mix, plus we haven't lost the others.
Improving as an author, one video at a time.Looks like we're following up on the subplot introduced in "Nothing to Hide". Didn't expect Collier to turn up again so soon.
An interesting Gambit Pileup at the end.

I really liked the way Root and Shaw play off each other.
Man, this was a pretty damn good episode. I could take or leave the earlier episodes this season but these past two weeks the show has been firing on all cylinders, and it's been great.
Anyone notice the gag with Peter Collier's name? Collier = "coal worker." Coal is black and used to fuel fires (like you'd make in a chimney). Ergo, Black Peter.
That's a stretch.
This post has been powered by avenging fury and a balanced diet.Is it? Seemed kind of obvious to me. It has that sort of impishness I'd imagine a revolutionary type would want for an alias. Alternatively, maybe it's another American Revolutionary, I dunno.
That very last line from Finch was pretty genius.
How can you be so certain, Ms. Groves, that the Machine does not wish you to be precisely where you are?
Doubly so because I am willing to bet he's *right*. And Root is smart enough to figure that out, and have to face the cognitive dissonance.
Home of CBR Rumbles-in-Exile: rumbles.fr.yuku.comSo Laskey bites it, and Carter is finally aware that Quinn calls the shots. I'd say that shit is about to hit the fan, and the next episode being the first of a three-parter seems to corroborate that theory. Speaking of which, did the trailer seriously suggest that they're going to kill Fusco?
That's the impression I got. And it looks like the poor guy might go out with a whimper rather than a bang.
I wonder if Jonathan Nolan will write/direct one of the three End Game episodes?

I doubt that they'll actually kill Fusco considering that the promo is suggesting that they're going to kill Fusco. Promo monkeys are predictably deceptive. Remember everyone freaking out about "Mors Praematura" when nobody actually died died prematurely.
At least, I hope I'm right. Please don't kill Fusco show, or you and I will have to have words.

Welp, wasn't expecting Laskey to get it so soon. It's too bad because I started to really like him in this episode.
That was...unexpected. Wow.
