Series 3 starts this Saturday on BBC after Doctor Who. Any theories about what will happen?

It would be nice is they let Uther die and told the story of King Arthur and start resolving all the prophecies they have been dangling.

But, I suspect Status Quo Is God, Morgana will convince Uther that she was under a spell and continue to smirk. Morgause will hire a new minion, Mordred will be creepy.

Well, lets just hope Uther doesn't start it with revoking the knightings from last series :/

Camelot had interesting plots, but boring actors and only lasted one season. Merlin is the opposite and lasts 3 seasons so far.

Oof. Camelot.

Though it's still a travesty that Robin Hood was allowed to air for as long as it did.

[up][up]Naturally. But she might have turned up later or something.

Obviously, Merlin's not going to die. They didn't even bother hide him from the Next Episode trailer.

[up][up] Status Quo Is God would be if she'd be back at court doing it secretly while only Merlin and Gaius would be aware of it instead of being the Kingdoms Most Wanted. And Uther would still be sitting in the throne instead of his Bedroom, heartbroken, with Arthur not running the Kingdom.

Morgana is evil is a Foregone Conclusion...just because it stays that way isn't the above trope.

Weird moment of weird: Just watching the pilot to Queer As Folk (US) and there's a picture of Bradley James (Arthur) that's the subject of several scenes of office squabbling. They all think he's too gay to serve as the face for spring water, apparently.

He doesn't have any lines, or anything. He's not even an extra. But it's funny all the same, and it's definitely him. Creepy.

Is it sad that my expectations of the writing were so low, seeing this WASN'T the case actually surprised me?

At the risk of sound stupid... (Spoilers)

What does Arthur's uncle gain by helping Morgana? She wins, he can be her right hand man in ruling the kingdom... As opposed to being Arthur's right hand man like he is right now. What does he stand to gain? Heck, Between Morgana and Arthur, one of the two has no track record of disposing of allies when they feel like it.

wild mass guessMaybe he just wants to have revenge on Uther and Arthur for taking his sisters life for the latter. Maybe its a double-cross.wild mass guess

We shall see what he has to gain, its only the first episode.

[up][up] If you go in a movie expecting it to be bad, it will be bad. Bad Expectations always taint.

Hardly true. I went into X Men First Class expecting it to be shit (What with the two previous movies being shit, and this looking like a lame attempt at making it younger and more hip) And was blown away by how awesome it was.

yes, but if you go in with bad expectations the treshold to overcome them is higher ;P Unless it its "awesome" writing, it might always fall through even if it is (subjectively speaking) only "good".

N Ah. See, coming expecting shit is good. That means the moment you get anything remotely good, it surpassed your expectations and you are blown away! And if it IS shit... well you aren't disapointed.

Hmmm... I'm not exactly sure it's wise to let Merlin have the ability to summon a great big dragon to save him whenever it gets too dangerous.

On that note, Merlin seems to have forgiven the Dragon for that time he attacked Camelot and probably killed a bunch of people.

I just watched the last episode. Gaius' line on Agravaine made me laugh

"He has every reason to hate Uther. Yes so many reasons there's no need to dwell on them or explain them. After all, his reasons to hate Uther fully explain why he's trying to kill his nephew and half the kingdom but not Uther."

I love how the writers just can't write a villain with any decent motivations. They could just have had Gaius say "Coz he's fucking evil!" and that would've made more sense.

Killing Uther in his current state might not satisfy him? Far more satisfying to kill HIS Son (who Uther raised, Nephew be damned.), give his Kingdom to the Daughter who betrayed him and maybe tell it to him all in detail at the end and THEN kill him?

Camelot is UTHER's Kingdom. Arthur is UTHER's Son.

Also, according to some things in the Merlin Wikia Morgana is his Niece too (and Morgause). Which wouldn't mean he allies with Morgana despite her trying to kill his Nephew, but mean he just helps his Niece kill his Nephew to get the Throne. On the one side a Nephew, born by sacrificing his Sister, raised by the Man responsible for it, to take over that mans Kingdom and Legacy. On the other side a Niece, sired in infidelity by the same Man but who hates him to the bone, already tried to take over that Kingdom and thereby piss on everything Uther believes in. Yeah...what would he chose?

Giving the fact that his freaking BROTHER challenged Uther to a duel over the Death of their sister and sweared to return from the dead to finish the job...does THAT speak for a "keep it simple, stupid" approach to revenge?

There are enough reasons. Maybe the writer just assumed he didn't need to spell them out giving that he is just another Member of a family which has tried to bring Camelot to ruins since Tristan de Bois was brought back to unlife by Nimueh back in Series One.

And its only episode 2...give them time to develop Agravaine a bit more.

In other things: Got the Soundtrack from Amazon :) not bad.

And Dragoon the Great returns...sounds like fun.

He's the uncle to the young prince and pretty much advisor to the "King" (with Uther out of action).

Everyone knows they're For the Evulz by default.

I liked it. We, the Genre Savvy Audience know that Lancelot will come back. So the focus was on the emotion of people who dont know he will come back.

On Camelot: It had a very savvy and manipulative Morgan Le Fay, one of my favorite villains. However, a lot of the on screen sex involving Arthur was rendered weird to me because the actor was...a skinny looking guy. And there's how strange he looks, so little, in that gigantic king's robe.

I am looking forward to Merlin continuing now. Especially since Arthur will now be King.

Well that was a great two-parter opening.

[up][up]How can Lancelot possibly return after that? Also, got to love the brief Foreshadowing by the dragon.

Did he know Lancelot would sacrifice himself?

The dragon seems to know all the plot ahead of time, so sure, why wouldn't he?
