I like the idea of both getting better shots to replace Barry Lyndon and FMJ (neither are a close-up, and that's part of this trope; not simply the expression, but that its framed as a relative close-up — the one from The Shining isn't really a close-up, either; there must be a better one somewhere in that movie) and using shots from non-Kubrick works.

...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.How's this?
Yeah. That's good
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Very good. Only thing that seems missing (perhaps) is Kubrick himself, who did good stare.◊

I could add that in at the top by itself...gimme a bit.
EDIT: Here we go...overkill?

No, not overkill. That's even better.
I really love that you chose a bunch of different facial expressions to go with it, from the snarling madman to the shiver-inducing intense, to the creepy smile.

...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.I'd sort of like to have the Kubrick pic the same size as the others and placed below the joker one, with a fifth portrait after it. It would be a neat 'Psychopath, psychopath, Kubrick, psychopath' thing. Or could that be seen as offensive towards him? I personally like the guy, in case you were wondering.
Eh, whatever you do, the remade collage looks great and has my support!

This implies, quite correctly, that my mind is dark and damp and full of tiny translucent fish.I approve.
Well, if we want to add a fourth row, with Kubrick in it, there's a couple of good ones of Anakin doing it in today's Darths and Droids (leftmost frame of the second to last line or leftmost in the bottom line) to finish out that row.

...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Good example, but I think I'd rather try to get it from an actual screencap from the film to get a clean crop...I'll fiddle with it tonight.
Here we go.
Is it bad if I kinda want to see this keep progressing endlessly?
Infinite Tree: an experimental storyWell, I suppose we could stretch it out to the level of Good Hair, Evil Hair's pic, but I think any more than this is gonna be overkill.
I like it, although it would be cool to add pics from comics, book covers, wherever else we col find them. But as it is, it's great.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.That crossed my mind, but there are so many good film examples that it just seemed right to go with them. If there aren't any objections to the last version, it can be put up and we can call this one.

Don't forget to hottip the names and sources.
Fight smart, not fair.Heh, this trope is even true in animation [1]◊
You are displaying abnormally high compulsions to over-analyze works of fiction and media. Diagnosis: TV Tropes Addiction.Last version looks good.
- Top row: stare-off.
- Second row: violent.
- Third row: creepy.
- Fourth row: green.
Alright, the pic and a craptastic placeholder caption with the characters hottipped are up until we hash out a better caption. I'm drawing a blank right now, anyone got anything?
I would love for the image links not to have any links and just be an endless recursion of stares... you get to the "bottom" but it's just the top faces again and it just keeps going.......
Only idea I have for a caption is "oh, hi there" but that's crap. Just needs something creepy... O_o Imagine being surrounded by those guys. *packs bags and flees*
Oh wait...this is so incredibly cheesy but I can't resist: "Glower children."
Definition here if it doesn't make sense.

Bump...any other thoughts?
Alright, hearing nothing else, I'm gonna stick with the current caption. If anyone has a better idea, change it. Locking up.
Unlocking so it can be relocked and properly Morgued.
The current pic for Kubrick Stare's got some serious issues. The pic of Pvt. Pyle is way too small to clearly see his face, the guy from the Barry Lyndon pic doesn't look like his head is turned down at all, Jack's face is a little too small, and the cropping on the pics is screwy.
There's any number of ways we can do this. I like the collage idea, and wouldn't have a big fuss over just rebuilding the current pic from scratch, but I'd prefer to have one or two actual Kubrick shots and then at least two pics from other works where this shows up. I was thinking Jack and Malcolm at the top, then maybe Keanu Reeves from The Matrix right after he blows up Smith, the cover of the Richard D. James Album, Heath Ledger looking at the cop in the interrogation room in The Dark Knight, or Anakin from Revenge Of The Sith.
