-sighs-

I'm sorry, gents, but I'm going to have to consider dropping out of this game; I'm simply not enjoying it as much as I used to, and it's almost impossible for me to get back into the proper mindset for these characters in order to portray them properly. I realize that this creates problems for everyone else, though, considering that the Kin have established themselves as at least somewhat relevant and Zael Tofismet has gotten himself elected as the chairperson by majority vote, which is why I am only considering dropping out at this point; I sincerely doubt that anyone wants to retcon all the stuff which has already occurred at this point, and there would need to be an explanation for why they're suddenly no longer involved.

What exactly are you having trouble with in that regard?

What is the mindset of the Kin, roughly?

It's somewhat difficult to describe, to be perfectly honest; that's part of the reason why it's been so difficult to get back into the swing of things for them, because their mindset is one that I cannot easily define. It was easier for me to adopt this mindset back when the game was still new, but now I find it much harder to do so; it's the sort of thing that requires constant use and stimulation, and without these things it will wither and die. The fact that there has been a great deal of other things occurring elsewhere which required my more-immediate attention over the last few months has only served to compound this problem.

[up][up]I think the question then is just a matter of readjusting it. If anything you think was an influence on it maybe try rewatching it, but the game is slow and needs a kick in the pants. With SOCR's hiatus, more players bleeding isn't the best idea. Especially considering you guys were the two candidates for Chair. I think ironically inspite of everything the game is still fairly fresh and conductive to minor cases of Characterization Marches On.

Money is on V but there might be an extradition clause negociated later.

Ahhh... >_<

I'm kind of tempted to rejoin this, since it doesn't seem to have actually died!

I GUESS I COULD. MAYBE. I have to ask, though, if I don't, will you guys just blow up the korpers? Or ignore them?

Also out of interest, did anyone say why Colonial took over SOCR's post? o_O"

There was. She's granted me control over NAH until her hiatus period ends, which is roughly estimated as the summer.

As for the Korpers... They're locked into plans, which will be carried out by us.

Um, okay. :/

[EDIT] Wait a second, could you guys at least PM me what these plans are? Considering that I came up with them in the first place and I never technically gave anyone my permission to play as them...

Not to mention that I'm using them for other things, stories and such.

If you guys are determined to turn this into a game of grand strategy, political intrigue, interplanatary war and (hopefully) eventual peace, can you at least fill me in and let me retake control of my own creations? :/

You bailed once, and bailed again before we even had a chance to decide whether to let you rejoin. Honestly, I am not inclined to vote you back in.

Once you leave a group you sorta lose any control over the creative process. Though I'll admit, I am pretty much set up to ignore the korpers since they never did anything besides show up to the Cradle.

Also I'll repost this:

SOCR: Allow me to highlight a line from my original post in Worldbuilding;

I'd like permission beforehand to use the contents of any posts made in this thread, even if for NPC empires or what not.

That wasn't just thrown in there for fun. It's there so if something doesn't work out, we don't throw away all our interconnected work around it. If we discard the idea of the Korpers as a major power race, we can keep the Korpers themselves, in some form or another, so we don't lose the details other players have built around them.

I'm with Scholable. Things are slow. There was a lot of planning and debate as to what to do with the Korpers and unreliable players have already costs us. I personally don't see an issue with just aborting them completely but if they get integrated again only for you to quit, it'll prevent both simply retconning them out and possibly whatever is lined up.

Ah. Dang loopholes/things I agreed to. :/

...

Fair enough. Eh, would it be possible to just remove them, then? Considering that they have only just arrived, and after thinking about it these last couple of days, eh, I remembered why it was I'd left in the first place...

I also kind of rounded up my primary reason I joined this, too be honest, since I came up with a lot of stuff for them on the Wiki, but I've already copied that down onto a seperate word document.

I just... I'm just scared of the following:

  • That if they come under someone else's control, they're just gonna become really generic 'space barbarians' with very little depth.
  • That they're just gonna wind up as slaves, banished, wiped out etc. or some other horrible fate.
  • That if and when I publish something featuring them (since they're still my creations and as such I still own the rights to them), then assuming the book develops fans, they google 'Korpers' and find... a forum RP on Tv Tropes. I'm inclined to try and distance myself from this and other R Ps I was involved with in the past, including the other stuff I've created and then used in stuff like this...

I'll come back into the administrative process for this game to do something many others don't want to.

  • Point 1: Korpers are staying
  • Point 2: You are not staying
  • Point 3: Our plans do in fact call for 'some horrible fate' because you have designed a race with so little political cohesion with a built-in omniaggressive element there is literally zero chance that you will not run afoul of some diplomatic conundrum, completely fail to solve it, and have war declared on your whole race anyway. Considering your technology is so backwards- which we have all given up trying to correct you on- and the rather xenophobic bend of a lot of the races here, this would become a major curbstomp on your race's collective head.
    • You made them, or half of them at least, nothing more than space barbarians with little depth, and you made the other half different in no way but the most basic of political makeups without enough internal differentiation for any other races to give a damn. You tried to make a race with a built-in villain, and you got a race with a built-in villain. None of the other races here are going to care if -some- of your people are good, especially not when we have several expansionist and several xenophobic races in our midst.
  • Point 4: You can distance yourself from your work all you want, though this claim of yours seems very egotistical and you seem arrogant in your chances of success... which is the #1 problem we've had in trying to mold your race into something that would actually fit with the setting.

You are hereby removed from this game.

As for why Colonial is covering NAH in my absence, it's because I asked him too. I'm dealing with a lot of IRL issues and I didn't want anything hindered by my absence; I will pick them back up when I again have time.

...

I'm actually speechless. I'm visibly shaking.

I apologize: for being rude, if that's the case, and any unintentional bouts of arrogance.

But I want you to know that I did change them. I altered them, I made them fit in more! I took away the gestalt field thing, I gave them technology that was closer to everyone elses, I changed them into something that doesn't suck, I hope...

Please, I'm begging you, help me change them! Help me make them better, deeper, more interesting! I don't want them to be idiots or barbarians, at least, not as an entire species... o_O"

If nothing else, so that when I write something else featuring them it doesn't turn to korper turd... D:
