Seiga nodded at Maria. Personally though, she was not in the mood for a fight. She cocked her head slightly to the side, fixing Gavrill with a look of smug superiority.

"Well, I'm surprised you'd find bantering with this brat here fun. Perhaps I should lower my expectations from now on..." she mused.

Icarax

The little girl's tormenting was beginning to fray my nerves. I thought through my actions and then considered hers in return, weighing the gains of each. When finished, my anger boiled anew. In their best interest I had made myself scarce and denied myself the pleasure of seeing the looks of dread the other miserable team would sport when they see my coming. Instead, I had taken on the weary job of shadowing the main door, passing my idle time with nothing more than counting snowflakes and using my keen sense of hearing to hear every last damnable word spoken by the fools I left inside.

Thus, I saw fit to explain my actions to the foolish little girl standing in front of me, sporting that damnable self righteous glare.

"In the last mission, I encountered the other team. Our encounter was neither peaceful nor productive. My presence here would have caused unrest little one."

It took me a moment to decide against pinning the girl to the wall as an emphasis on my current intentions. Perhaps another time for intimidation. Hated though the job of explaining myself to someone, it was nevertheless needed in this case.

"That was why I decided to make myself scarce, allowing you to proceed with any interactions in the hopes of finding our objective. Unfortunately...."

My anger spiked as I gave B.B Hood the accusing glare, causing my incredible shadow powers to affect the environment. Sure enough, the room dimmed noticeably.

"I was betrayed by my hope and ultimately disappointed."

I considered my conversation with this little worm to be over. Whatever frivolous excuse she had left she could tell to the walls and perhaps they will agree with her. I at any rate needed to see what the other team was up to- it would simply not do for them to have already located the Sifuri artifact. However, the intimidation factor may work against me in this venture- the lesser beings tend to speak less in my presence unless tortured.

For their sake, I hope that it does not come to that.

Before I moved on, I left a parting message.

"Oh yes, there are three magic members at the front gate. A teleporter, an ice wielder and an injured boy. Make sure they do not cause trouble."

And with that I left the fools; how I was glad to be rid of their disgusting presence. Perhaps if I had stayed longer, their stupidity would have rubbed off on me. With a few steps, I was standing beside Gavrill. I gazed upon the other team and made sure to memorize the faces of the locals involved. The teleporter had not reached them yet with the others and thus, they must still be outside.

"Lower your expectations? This is rich coming from an upstart like you Seiga. Do not try to escape, it will result in your annihilation. We wish to know the objective to this mission- if you know it then it is in your best interest to start talking....however."

Here I looked at the locals. A couple a children, a man in blue with a self important look, a bald man they referred to as Tenzin, a woman in blue and a man in what should be considered plain clothes. Since I have yet to see their abilities in person, I could not safely judge the combat situation though at least I could assure myself that taking down the other team would be doable, if not messy.

"If you are in the dark as we are, I am sure the locals won't mind telling us what exactly has been going on. Isn't that right?"

SCIENCE

When Icarax turned away, she stuck out her tongue at him childishly, but then followed him anyway.

MAGIC

"Indeed, and you were the one who made it neither peaceful or productive," Maria crossed her arms, keeping herself between Icarax. "Let them leave and we will tell you what we know."

"Lay one finger on their head and I shall make sure neither of you find out," Maria declared to both Icarax and Gavrill, serious look on her face.

"Enough," It was, of all people, B.B. Hood who said it, having checked on who was inside the room and was now holding one of her explosive apples, ready to light it and glaring at Icarax with a sort of Tranquil Fury. "Darkstalker, you are not to harm the native family, understand?"

Icarax

Upon hearing the hollow threats from the girl named Maria, currently trying to present herself as a barrier between me and the locals, I was inclined to laugh. Though a snigger did in fact leave me upon hearing her words, my composure did not fade. It was utmost desire to show this ignorant girl who really was in charge here, who it was that could make the threats.

It was I and none other.

If only there weren't so many meddlers on the other team. A full on brawl may turn a local into collateral damage, at which point they might all shut up and refuse to speak until put to the sword. I decided that an estimate to their behavior would be the matoran; the puny, insipid, self important matoran. A being of a lesser caliber who's stubborn antiques would only hamper the mission.

I saw that this was a most unfortunate situation. The atmosphere called for brutality to be rained down upon the craven fools that stand opposing; yet the situation would not allow that. I knew then that I must wait, a better battlefield will present itself sooner. Fortune smiles upon those that wait.

"That is quite enough, Summoner Maria"

I motioned with my hand for her to shut her trap.

"If you really think that any of you can take on me with the hope of surviving, you have another thing coming. So enough of this nonsense. What do you know about our mission? Where is our objective?"

Out of the corner of my eye I say sudden movement. I moment later I was able to confirm that it was the teleporter from earlier. Strangely enough, he didn't bring his friends. It would have been to his advantage to add numbers to his group, especially when that number included an ice wielder- they are troublesome to handle. However, he had elected not to bring in his companions, perhaps fearing the outbreak of battle. Wise enough. I turned my attention thus to B.B Hood who had decided to follow me.

"Darkstalker? I am a Makuta little one."

I said to her, plucking the apple out of her hand with a sweep of the arm. I contemplated the explosive before crushing it in my hand.

"And if you want to become so infuriated over something so petty...then be my guest."

And with that, I activated my mask of shadows. My mask I say but I like to regard it as a spoil of war. Nevertheless, the mental weapon barely warmed as it exerted it's most basic power on the little cretin standing behind me. B.B Hood would find herself getting angrier by the moment, angry at me, angry at Maria, angry at...everything.

"Of course I will not harm the locals. It is in our best interest that they make it out in one piece. The other team however, is a different story. One cannot but help crush a few bugs underneath the heel while walking..."

A smirk played across my face as I spoke. Perhaps the little girl will explode with anger and attack the other team or perhaps she would endure it and live, the rage only lasted a brief moment after all. Still, if she wanted to cause trouble, I had no part in it except perhaps...guilty of nudging her in the right direction.

Team Science

Gavrill’s face twitched momentarily; it wasn't clear if she was amused or nonplussed by Toph's reaction. Was this kid for real?

"Ehh... how old are you again? Thirteen?"

She sniffed the air imperceptibly.

"Maybe twelve? Why, you’re practically an infant. Small wonder you’re such an innocent when you haven’t even hit puberty yet!"

She let Seiga's taunt pass without comment, simply glancing at her blandly as though she didn't see a person. As far as Gavrill was concerned, the hermit wasn't her enemy so much as something of Maria's to be taken away from her. The confrontation between Maria, Icarax and now B.B. was proving interesting as well. She was finding the robot's attitude more and more to her liking, although she foresaw butting heads with him in the future. Hood, on the other hand, was letting the side down a little.

"I have to say, it's not like you to get worked up over the poor little locals Hood! I thought you were supposed to be some kind of ruthless bounty hunter, not a sentimental dumbass. Not going soft on us, are ya?"

"I hunt monsters, not humans," B.B. Hood explained to Gavrill, her voice raising as she spoke obviously due to the effects that Icarax was having on her anger, though not enough to just outright attack them. "I should have expected neither of you would understand how hurt little children get when their grandparents get attacked by creatures like you!"

B.B. Hood put her explosive apple back into her basket unlit and was looking for her Uzi when she remembered that she was still wearing her mittens, so she remained just glaring at the two in anger.

"Fine, if you must know..." Maria explained, crossing her arms as she interrupted B.B. Hood's glaring. "It has something to do with the spirits of this world and some guy named Unalaq knows more."

Maria moved to stand right in front of the door to block it from the two, before adding something for Gavrill and Icarax. "I shall also point out that I am the only one here who talks to spirits on a regular basis, even if they might work differently... Unless, of course, one of your members also has spiritual awareness."

The implication, Maria thought, was clear... She might actually be needed to try to talk to the spirits since she has spirits of her own, and if they wanted to hurt anyone on her team or Tenzin's family, they had to go through Maria first.

Main Hall

As Gavrill and Icarax came into view, Tenzin adopted a more battle-ready stance, and so did Kya and Bumi, as the kids went through the trapdoor to get Korra's help. Tenzin and Kya both shared a look as Bumi put up his fists, jumping back and forth, ready for a fight.

"WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAIT!" Varrick yelled so loud that everyone could hear him. "Oh, I know what you people are. Walking around with those weird clothes? Speaking those words that nobody understands? There's only one possible explanation, and I knew it from the very moment I saw you people!" A beat. "You're the Republic City press, aren't you? I've seen this kind of awkward and bizarre attitude before. You're here to cover a story, possibly the spirits one."

"You know about the spirits?" Tenzin asked, before raising a finger. "Wait, who are you?"

"Varrick! But you may call me genius!" He replied, putting his hands on his hips. "With my many contacts, it's obvious I know the story about the spirits. These rumours are spreading around like wildfire! And with a few yuan, they spread over to my ears. It's part of the reason why I'm here." He smiled. "Not because I want to help, but because it lead me to finding out some people I want to meet. Like Asami, of Future Industries, and that Meddling Monk guy."

Kya scoffed. "Oh, come on. You fell for his tricks too?" She asked out loud.

"Listen, I don't know what that guy has on his head, but he's a visionary!" Varrick replied, turning to the Seekers. "He's opened up a small shop down by the festival.. claims he knows about the future, and he tells stories to kids about futuristic worlds and some guy travelling around on a giant blue box!" He wiggled his fingers. "Personally, I don't buy it. Wouldn't a giant blue box stick out if you were visiting some ancient world? He should be able to disguise it." Shaking his head, he continued. "That's not the point! The point is, he's got some really good ideas, and I plan to give him a contract! If I can dodge that giant chin of his..."

Dining Hall

"Any help is appreciated," Korra spoke up, nodding. "Especially since I don't know what to expect of this spirit portal. It's very possible that it can throw something big at us, and I don't know if my Uncle has any fighting abilities—"

Korra was interrupted by the sounds of the airbender kids rushing towards her. "Korra!" Ikki exclaimed, pointing at the door to the main hall. "There's some scary stitched lady, and she's going to start a fight with the others!"

"And there's a cool giant armored dude with her!" Meelo spoke up. "Dad told us to come get you before things get really dangerous!"

Korra looked down at the kids, and then at the Seekers. "One of yours, I presume?" She asked, pointing at the door. "I think I remember fighting alongside a lady with stitches..." He said, prompting Asami to wince.

Throne Room

Unalaq hummed to himself, turning around. "This recent trouble with spirits has been caused by forces from another world. Perhaps the Spirit World itself, somehow. There is a man... I believe he has the key to this situation. He calls himself 'the Meddling Monk'... a rather boring entertainer if you asked me, but he has an aura and a state of mind which is not of this time or place. You can find him at the festival. Bring him to me so that I may fix the trouble he has created."

Festival Grounds

Glancing at Nerile, Loki shook his head. "Was that a swear? Watch your mouth. There are children here. As for my... lich, as you insist to call him... I have found him, but that is not important. Not right now." He took a few steps back, looking around. "I'm afraid I have tricked you, my dear Jinkuro. For you see, whilst I do hope you, and Vel'koz, and perhaps Nerile will join me in a... team of some sorts.. that was not the only reason I came here."

He pointed to the air around them with his staff. "Ever since I stepped into this city, I felt a spell hovering above it. This kind of spell is child's play to me, the God of Deceit, but to the people of this land, it is unbelievably powerful. I had to get closer to the center of the spell in order to detect what is going on with it... and now I can see the results. It is a 'distraction' spell, meant to hide something by making your mind ignore it... unless you look for it. For example, if these people have just figured out certain types of communications..." He pointed directly at a stall where a quadrangular tape-playing device stood. "What is that doing there?"

The moment the Seekers saw the tape-playing device, a bunch of other objects that they had just ignored as being commonplace became distinctly anachronistical. A television set sat on a stool on another device, telephone poles harbored lines that stopped in mid-air, children played with plane toys that depicted highly futuristic planes, and in between certain oil lamps that lit the streets were electric lamps, turning on and off. And no one in the entire city seemed to notice them, going back to their daily lives as if those objects had been a part of their world for a long time.

"Whatever is going on here, it transcends time." Loki continued, tapping his chin. "If we are to solve this problem, then we are to find someone who is clearly not of this era. This spell may be powerful enough to hide objects, but it is not powerful enough to hide a person. A person from the future." He smiled to himself, unaware that right behind him there was a large tent with a sign saying THE MEDDLING MONK - TALES FROM THE FUTURE! AND TOYS on top of it, a line of kids and parents waiting to get in.

Ryuko - Science

As members of Team Science moved over to where the members of Team Magic were, Ryuko opted to stay where she was, and watch the proceedings from a distance. She kept a hand at her scissor, on the off-chance that their argument turns into a large scale brawl.

Staying behind Ryuko? This isn't like you...    Senketsu said looking at the commotion. Ryuko shook her head. "I'm not touching that. It's too early for crap like this. Then again, I do have you, Senketsu so if something does go down..." she said, gripping her scissor tighter. Senketsu sighed.    At the very least, do try an back them up?    he asked as Ryuko took a step towards the group. "Well, may-" she was about to answer before she jumped at Varrick yelling. She rubbed her ears in response.

"I forgot we had that guy to put up with. These people know this guy?" Ryuko wondered out loud.

Now this was intriguing, people out of their own time? A sophisticated deception spell? Vel'Koz had to reconsider his priorities. Finding this creature responsible for these things and disintegrating him was a higher priority than keeping relations with the others. It was the entire reason he had joined the League, to absorb the knowledge of control over time. "Very well. It is likely that anyone out of place may relate to our mission at hand." Vel'Koz got closer to the object at hand, but hesitating in satisfying his hunger. "These objects may contain hidden secrets. Jinkuro listened to Loki's whole speech about the spell cast on the village with a bit of confusion. She looked to where he pointed and saw the strange metal box that was sitting there. As she noticed the strange device, more and more strange things entered into focus. She didn't know what any of them were, but they were clearly out of place. She faced Loki as he expressed their need to find someone of the future, and immediately noticed the tent's sign. With a dry chuckle, she pointed out the tent and remarked "Maybe a tale from the future can help us."

Labrys smiled, glad that they were finally getting an idea of what to do. It wasn't any concrete lead, but it was better off than they were before. She was surprised though when a group of kids suddenly ran up to Korra. They listed off descriptions that sounded pretty close to their team mates, causing the robot girl to roll her eyes. So thats where everyone went off to. "Hold on, I think I got this." She said as she pulled out the T-pod Donny gave out before they left the base. She turned it on and spoke into it "Hey team, got some good news. We might 'av found a clue on what ta do. We met tha Avatar and she wants ta go to the Southern Spirit Portal. Icarax

I understood the implications of Maria's little side remark alright. Personally, I didn't think that she would sink so low as to make 'talking to spirits' her selling point.

"Maria, you have the wrong idea of the situation. I care not for your talents, only for the things you can tell me to aid me on my merry way out of this stink hole. Of course, if you wish to push your point on your spirit chatter ability, I could lend you a hand and send you to a place where you can talk to spirits all day long."

Here I twirled my doublesword and struck it into the ground. The noise of the ultimate metal cleaving the ice floor punctuating my point. Sparing the locals a glance, I saw that they too were ready to launch a defense should I threaten immediate danger. I sighed and waved a hand for them to back off.

"Do not bother. I have no interest in fighting you this day, I simply need.....

At this moment, the buffoon from outside chose to interrupt me. My hand tightened on my doublesword, one second more and the man would have be relieved of his face. Fortunately the man was quick in his speech and divulged a cascade of useful information.

I watched as my 'teammates' reacted to this new development. No surprises there though I found myself liking the attitude of Gavrill. However, I had outstayed my purpose and my welcome. Beyond this point, there was no point for me to stay apart from exchanging useless banter. As much as I wanted to shut down the arrogant brat named Maria and the foot pad that wouldn't shut up named B.B Hood, there were matters of greater importance.

Like this man in the blue box.

Turning, I made my way back out the doors before pausing on a thought.

"Well? Are you sluggards coming?"
