^ But the North did win... How else could the Republic of Zeon emerge from a Southern victory?

Look, this whole thread is a joke on a Harry Turtledove series. Either you've heard of it and get exactly what the OP is talking about, like pagad seems to, or you don't. I've heard of the series in question but never read it, so I saw what was going on almost right away but I don't know enough to contribute.

Flora Segunda | World Made By Hand | Monster Blood Tattoo ^You should read these series.

Well, we could've built our own alternate history, but folks are blind.

[up] Pfft, with a united North America after the American Civil War? That'd require Alien Space Bats at the very least. You might as well have a race of talking lizards invade the Earth in the middle of the Second Great War and be done with it.

With cannon shot and gun blast smash the alien. With laser beam and searing plasma scatter the alien to the stars.

I thought the lizards have already invaded.

Oh. I thought this topic was about flipping CSA The Confederate States Of America and making equally idiotic claims about what a Union victory would have accomplished.

I got the premise, but I've never heard of Harry Turtledove.

Harry Turtledove may have written an alternate history series, but he doesn't have a monopoly on the concept.

This thread is the unfortunate kind of meta.

It honestly didn't have to be about Turtledove. But I needed source material since nobody seemed to understand what I was getting at.

Well if it makes you feel better, ZAFT did destroy Side 4 in the Colonial War even if Zeon emerged the victor.

You know what I'd want to see? A fantasy retelling of the War, but not Turtledove's Dungeon Punk, but actual High Fantasy. With I'm-better-than-you, The Beautiful People Master Race elves running an extermination campaign against everyone, and hard-working, industrial, beardy and unkempt dwarves under a tyrannical regime. I'll leave the rest of the crew for you. cool

If the North had won then England would have had a French king on the throne and then we'd all be talking French because there wouldn't have been a rival power to stop the French colonazation of North America

Hows that then for some Alt History? the first person who guesses which civil war I am on about gets a cookie

Does the English-French 100 years war pass a north-south war? You know? The one Jeanne D'Arc fought in.

I think calling that a civil war might be a tad of a stretch. I mean, yeah, it was over succession, but it was between two sovereign states with entirely different national identities.

Would the '45 count?

We don't really have any single conflict that goes under the name 'the Civil War'.
