I HAVE THE PERFECT MECH ANIME FOR YOU!
No Yelling
Tons and tons of Science Talking. Even the fighting is scientifical.
Everything that happens is biologically explained.
Funnily, it happens in the same universe as GGG. The Main Character is Ushii's classmate.
In-universe, Disc X is based upon one of Lamia's moves

I think you hit the nail on the head as to why I found TTGL a bit "artificial".
Moe isn't something you deliberately make to get a rise out of your audience. It's sort of like the art in horror movies, like how an atomic pile throws off radiation (thanks for the metaphor Stephen King :D).
Neither goony beard-men nor rainbow-haired she-twinks will stand in the way of my dreams!I can understand how you feel but another fight will jus lead to more headaches, man. there's allready been too much yelling as it is.

What the fuck do you even mean when you say that? Do you mean 'Gainax did new stuff with Mecha I didn't personally like?' Because there's a huge fucking difference between the two.

These are the words that shall come from my mouth. I shall be known for speaking them.Nah, I'm just wondering how people managed to get the "hurr not TRUE SUPER ROBOT FANS" from saying "don't ruin good discussions by forcibly forcing your Sacred Cow in them".
And yes, the "strawman" does exist, or do you mean TTGL is special that it never got noisy fans like My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic, Adventure Time, and such now?
You mean how 90's after Gainax everything mecha was faux-deep, wangsty, and dark?

That does it, locking for 24 hours maybe forever
...I would think stuff like TTGL would more or less prove your point invalid.

Gao Gai Gar seems to have a lot of themes in common with some more contemporary sci-fi, and it's just such an odd anomoly in the mecha world, while it might have over the top visuials, the show's plot based around themes of Myth and Transhumanism is incredibly intriguing.
Other Super Robot shows just seem like a lotta yelling for no reason in comparison.
