I'm working on this superhero comic, I named most of the cast a while ago, but now I'm starting to think that the names might sound kind of stupid. I'm going to list some of the more questionable ones, along with their important traits, and it'd be nice to get some feedback. Keep in mind that it's a lighthearted comic, but not a total gag series.

Main Character: Sky-Girl. Her power isn't to fly though, she has a magic amulet that gives her the fighting ability of a ninja from ancient Japan. Her name comes from the fact that she navigates the city by rooftop. The in-universe explanation is that she took the name from a superhero she was writing that could fly.

Civilian Name: Luna Lombardi. Average, half-Italian magazine journalist. My biggest concern is that her name sounds too childish. I was thinking about using her full name in story, Luna Maria Lombardi, to lessen that, but I'm not sure that would work.

Sciency Villain: Dr. Graverobber Mad scientist who uses a serum to animate corpses, basically making a zombie army. I also think his name sounds a bit too childish.

Crime Lord Villain: Risky Malone A twelve year old crime boss that poses as a common "Artful Dodger" esque pickpocket

Psychic Villain: Heliotrope Morpho An insane asylum resident who also has psychic powers. I kind of like this name, it has a very crazy ramblings feel, but I wanted to run it by other people just to make sure.

Any suggestions on alternate names are also appreciated.

Thanks!

Heliotrope Morpho sounds like a species name (which it is, heliotrope is a type of flower and a famous Morphos is that big shiny blue butterfly). It doesn't roll off the tongue like all your other names, and I'd think the name

I would like to be called Risky Malone.

Yeah, Dr. Graverobber sounds like something you'd find in a pulp story.

Luna Lombardi sounds like she actually is the alterego of a hero.

So, Luna and Risky good, Graverobber and Morpho bad?

It's probably just the Dr. in front of Dr. Graverobber's name. If you took that off, his name is about as effective as Sky-girl's.

The other one... yeah. Morpho by itself might work, but both of them together just suggest a species name, at least for me.

Heliotrope just doesn't sound like a villain's name.

Taken together, the names make me think this is going to be an over-the-top comedy or parody. Dr. Graverobber works that way, especially if he got stuck with the nickname from someone else.

I really don't see a problem with Dr. Graverobber, though it would probably be easier for other to swallow if he was a silver aged over-the-top large ham.

Theres sex and death and human grime in monochrome for one thin dime and at least the trains all run on time but they dont go anywhere.

Heliotrope Morpho just sounds like a Word Salad Name, a la Casanova Frankenstein.

your main problems is the villans risky malone sounds too generic you can do better than that if you came up with luna's name also i agree with the one dude that said the the one guys name sounds like a species name cut out the second part and it sounds good minor problems i see only two 1-ninjas...really 2-two ithe scientist reminds me too much of the re-animator and if that serum is green than i'm defidently going to have to destroy for copying the re-animator otherwise yeah it's a good idea btw it's me yukiei just so you know that the rude bashing is well founded.....well maybe not well founded but it's me so you know what to expect by now....i hope

Dr. Graverobber should too on the nose, I think. Has he got a gimmick or characteristic you could use as a name?

Dr. Graverobber could work... if you made him VERY Wrong Genre Savvy and think that he was a Silver Age villain, while making a running gag out of people's reactions to the name. Luna Lombardi definitely sounds a bit contrived - why not just go with Maria Lombardi?

Ages and more personality info would help me better evaluate these names, but otherwise...

I'm not too keen on Sky-Girl. It just sounds real uninspired, even with the explanation of the name.

Luna Lombardi's alright if you wanna go for that standard superhero alliteration, but what is her personality? The name "Luna" usually elicits an assumption that the character is kinda crazy or free-spirited, unless you wanna use the name ironically.

Dr. Graverobber's fitting to me. I like it. But I would expect him to be like Dr. Drakken from Kim Possible.

Risky's a good name too, since the character is a kid. I don't really like the Heliotrope name, though. Was he born with this name or is it just a moniker?

Maybe you could try Gravesnacher? If it isn't too Dark-age.

Sky-Girl doesn't do it for me. I'd go with Skylark, Skylar or simply Skye Same with your villain. You could cut it down to Dr. Grave with the first name Oman, Mortimer, Avichai or Zoe, Evita, Vivian, Adero, for a female. If you want to throw in a Shakespeare reference then Dr. Mercutio Grave.

Risky Malone should not be confused with his older sister, Risque Malone.

Heliotrope Morpho sounds like a gland condition or what happens to a piece of fruit if you leave it out in the sun too long. Taken more literally, does he look like a sunflower?

Whether you think you can, or you think you can't, you are probably right.
