Anyone have a shot of the opening to Captain N The Game Master, where he's being pulled into the game world through the TV?
Also the pic is a spoiler. So support pull.
Please.I'd support the pull just because I have no idea what's happening in that pic.
What if the elements at play were labelled? Like, Dick Tracy-style arrows pointing to "Fourth Wall", "Author"?
Get a slant at this glossary of Pulp Detective terms. It rates. Pipe that? That would help a lot, I think, but that still leaves the issue of the image being somewhat of a spoiler for the comic.
I'm not sure how good it looks at 350 pixels, but I think a cropped version of this image◊ might work... It's Zatanna in Seven Soldiers reaching out through the fourth wall to the authors for their help. Or to the readers, you can interpret it in both ways; both the authors and the readers end up helping her.

Unfortunately, the text is too small when the pic's resized...now, it could possibly work for Painting the Fourth Wall since the hand effect is what would be essential there.
That'd be a good image for Breaking the Fourth Wall, but the From Beyond the Fourth Wall description specifically says it's about the author or the viewer extending their influence to the fictional universe to help the character. Your image is almost opposite of that: the character extending its influence to the real universe to attack the viewer.
How about something from Duck Amuck?(Though technicly the author isn't helping Daffy)
Where were you during the recent The Fourth Wall Will Not Protect You Image Pickin' thread? That is sooo much better than what got chosen.

Get a slant at this glossary of Pulp Detective terms. It rates. Pipe that? You're ignoring the fact that it looks too not-an-example to drive. I look at that and see "oh, it's one of those mixed-medium shows with animated teenage girls attacking people through their computer screens." (also, recent? That was three months ago!)
As far as From Beyond the Fourth Wall goes, though, I have no ideas. The only thing I can think of is the end of the Giygas fight from Earthbound, and I don't think that would really work all that well.

"Only now, after being besieged by a flock of talking ponies, did he really understand what he'd lost. "Can we get something from Duck Amuck? This trope was the whole point of that short, right?
The Fourth Wall Will Not Protect You is not about things coming out of the TV to attack you. It's about things attacking the camera as if they're attacking you (e.g. if Sean Connery shoots you).

Rhymes with "Protracted."I don't think that's it; that trope is quite clearly about stuff attacking the audience or author by breaking the fourth wall
Reaction Image RepositoryOkay, that actually would work. The article is written in such a way that positive examples are given priority - until I read the last sentence of the first paragraph, I thought this was "author helps characters directly".
While I'm glad to see this thread moving again, can we please not derail it to talking about the inverse of the trope we're actually talking about? I know, I know, it's my fault, but that was a mistake.

"Only now, after being besieged by a flock of talking ponies, did he really understand what he'd lost. "I was thinking the same thing. I can get some better ones later.

And if I claim to be a wise man, well, it surely means that I don't know.I like the one where he's erasing Daffy's parachute.
Yeah, unwritten rule number one: follow all the unwritten procedures. - CamacanAgree, parachute is good.
Fight smart, not fair.I approve of the parachute.
"Only now, after being besieged by a flock of talking ponies, did he really understand what he'd lost. "The parachute pic works well enough for me.
Permission to pull the spoiler picture in the meanwhile?
Please.Liking the parachute picture
Reaction Image RepositoryOne or two more votes for the parachute pic and we can run with it; the current pic can be pulled if it's a spoiler.
It's a guy breaking through a window.
Now, I've actually read Homestuck, so I know that the window in question is a fourth wall (fifth, technically, but it still fits the trope), but that information isn't actually contained anywhere in the image.
she her hers hOI!!! i'm tempe
