Well that was certainly Sailor Moon. Really similar to the original series, which wasn't all that great. It did hit the nostalgia buttons though. Usagi sounds kind of off to me. Not a fan of the CG transformation, but I'll get used to it. At least now I know why Mamoru is wearing glasses. Helps keep Usagi from recognizing his eyes as Tuxedo Mask. Nice Ami cameo at the end.
The broach is magic. Flowery borders for the intros are pretty much a staple of Shoujo, much like the bubbles between Usagi and Mamoru. It would be wise never trust Tumblr as an information source on these sorts of matters, as they are frequently misinformed or flat-out wrong.
GM of AGOG S4: Frontiers RP; Sub-GM of TABA, SOTR, & UUA RPsNo I mean we don't see Luna pulling it out from anywhere. She mentions it and it suddenly appears. We don't even see where Usagi takes it from!

It was just summoned this time, I guess. Luna didn't have to flip.
Nah, a true RGU reference would have roses specifically, and they'd be everywhere.
Eeeeeeeverywhere!
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.About Mamoru's glasses, while he doesn't wear them in the anime, he does wear them in the manga sometimes. Since Sailor Moon Crystal is following the manga more accurately, they included that detail as well.
No comment on the very aware crack about Mamoru wearing a tux in broad daylight? :P
He looks gorgeous in it.

Well the tone is very different from the original Sailor Moon anime. I like it.
I am hype!
When life gives you lemons, burn life's house down with the lemons. You know, I may have just realized part of the reason I was never a huge fan of the original series. It has a pretty solid cast of diverse and likeable characters, but the focus was on the romance between Usagi and Mamoru for the first two series. And the romance wasn't particularly good either. The Inners were important, but they were never really focused on. I haven't read the manga, but from what I've heard Crystal will probably follow a similar trajectory of where the focus is.
Actually, the inners tend to get at least a chapter centered around one of them per each story arc in the manga. It fleshes them out a little more.
So no one's going to crack a joke about how we have Homura Akemi as Sailor Mars and Kneesocks as Sailor Venus?
Oh well.
But seriously, Cristina Vee went from voicing arguably the definitive Deconstruction of a Magical Girl to probably one of the most iconic (supporting) magical girls in anime history? Way to go, CV!
In fact, this new cast as a whole sounds very awesome and promising!
Can't wait to hear the whole cast in a clip or trailer or something!
Also, anyone want to wager that Toonami will score the TV rights to this improved dub as a part of its schedule in the near future?

Signs point to yes, unless they don't want to really keep this "web exclusive"
Either that or the show ends up a flop in terms of ratings/attention.
don't forget she started out in her professional career as a magical girl...Nanoha.So,yeah,she owes a lot to Magical Girls.
Now that I think about it,she started out as one of the most popular Magical Girls of the 00's,then she is one of the most popular Magical Girls from the 2010's,and now she is one of the most popular Magical Girls from the 90's.Damn...

- Ben actually had a big hint to who he was playing before (and during) the con. Such a silly dork.
- He and Shingo's VA (though Digimon fans know these two better as Shoutmon and Mikey) got to pose with the fans too.
- Stephanie wore her hair Usagi-style!
- Life imitates art?
- Group shot with the main cast for the limited edition DVD interview!
Saw the first episode. It's hard to get a grasp without any other medium to compare it to (though i've consumed a copious amount of Sailor Moon fan material of a certain persuasion, and done research to aid in creation of some of such material, so have a decent grasp of who is who and what they do...) and the first episode doesn't do much but rush through the now-standard "Magical Girl Initiation" with the helper that comes along and half-forces them into things. I'd say Sailor Moon falls between Pretty Cure (on the low end) and Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha (at the less-low but still pretty low end, at least as far as Series 1 went) in terms of explaining what the hell is going on at the early state.
First time watching Sailor Moon subbed, but it's kinda nice jumping back into this world ever since my childhood.
The new dub being recorded by Studiopolis and according to this site's page entry on the studio, I should have expected this thing to have an All Star voice cast because that is what they are known for. Viz is really pulling out all the stops, aren't they?

In all fairness, thats partially the point. Even Usagi at this point barely comprehends what the hell she's gotten herself into.
Rei (Sailor Mars) is the one who actually asks relevant questions, as you might have seen in that one gif.
In the manga, Ami also was rather inquisitive shortly after her debut.
Ah yes I do remember at least Rei being insistent of Luna explaining everything to them.
By the way am I the only one that prefers the expression and faces in crystal to the original series?
When life gives you lemons, burn life's house down with the lemons.
Come on, Latin America, get your own dub again, please get it...
