I've only played Civilzations Revolutions for consoles, and I thought it was pretty fun.

Aztecs are beastly military civs...

One of the things I used to love doing in the old days is sending a group of warriors in a beeline for a large opposing Empire's capital city, destroy it (or take it over) and make them Civil War into two different races.

This doesn't happen anywhere near as often in the later games, which makes me a bit sad, even if it is something that makes it less easy to defeat your enemy.

One tip I have for those playing Civ 4: learn to dread facing the Inca. They tend to win a cultural victory before you win another victory, have a higher ecomony then all others and are industrialist. Plus they tend to cover a large area.

I always play Inca. Industrious and Financial suits me just fine.

You also get the Quechuas, which pretty much let you quickly take another civilization's capitol.

And their terraces are granaries that provide culture, which is convenient for border-popping since they're the first building you want in a new city.

I don't think I've ever done anything but tech rushes. . .

Anyways, here's an article on how to beat the game on the easier difficulty levels.

I've only played 1 and 3, but loved both of them. I'd play 1 for days when I was younger, and when I acquired 3 I nabbed all sorts of graphic and unit mods for it.

Is there a way to keep an allied civilization from stealing cities out from under me when invading another nation? Oda Nobunaga stole the capitol of Siam from me by the barest fraction, and wouldn't give it back.

Here's an easy way to avoid that: stop getting allies.

Or, alternatively, let the ally attack first a steal his cities out from under him.

A Civ V expansion called Gods & Kings is coming this spring.

It promises nine new civilizations, the return of religion and espionage, embassies, a reworked combat system, three new scenarios, and plenty of new units, buildings, wonders, and city-states.

Expansion + DLC = massive headache unless we get the DLC civs from buying the expansion.

Probably not, I'm afraid.

At the very least, we already know that the Dutch, the Celts, the Mayans, and the Byzantines are in the game.

Good thing I still play Civ 4 then. I'm normally okay with DLC, but its being implemented rather weirdly in this case.

I once played an Earth 1862 scenario that I edited for my mod as the French, which had unique unit art from Varietas Delectat. The invasion of Mexico initially went smoothly, and after taking the Yucatan and Oaxaca regions (Mexico City was too heavily defended), I even managed to send my Dragoons to cut off their supply of Sulphur, knocking them back to the Middle Ages. This being Mexico, though, it meant that the war soon became a bloody meatgrinder where what basically amounted to Eagle and Jaguar Warriors battled Imperial Guardsmen and World War I-era Machinegunners (and, more often than not, won). The war finally ended around 1870 or so when Juarez finally capitulated and became a vassal to me. Unfortunately, I lost the savegame and screenshots when I reinstalled. sad
