Finally borrowed The Expoendables off my friend to watch (along with every other damn movie I need to see)

I'm not quite familiar with American television so I haven't seen any work featuring him. I think the first Chuck Norris joke I ever he heard was that Chuck Norris can shoot airplanes down by pointing and saying "Bang." I initially heard his name as Check Norris.

That's the work that made him famous, isn't it? Well, haven't actually seen it. The show was referenced in Black Lagoon during flashback where a sergeant (I think) calls his squad out for trying to gang rape a barely pubescent (she looked 13 at the most) girl. The could have been rapist said "Oh look who we have here, a goddamned Texas Ranger. Where's your [name of the sidekick]?"

Didn't Chuck cure Haley Joel Osment's AIDS on that show?

No, Chuck was famous for a series of action movies from the 80's including Delta Force, not to mention his fight with Bruce Lee in Way of the Dragon. He was basically a second tier of action heroes after Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger. Walker Texas Ranger is what made him memetic.

Apparently, Antonio Banderas was approached to star in this movie, but he didn't have the time.

2012 will be a battle of machismo between this and Django Unchained. Django Unchained's cast? Jamie Foxx, Leonardo Dicaprio, Christoph Waltz, Samuel L Jackson, Kurt Russell and Don Johnson. And it's still being cast.

From now until three weeks after I see the movie, this is my face:

May just be that the poster is lying to drum up attention, but it looks like Arnie and Bruce may have more than just the cameos they got in the first movie.

I suppose now that the former is no longer governor, he doesn't have to worry about the Lt Gov (who was, IIRC, in disagreement with many of Arnie's policies) taking over if he's out of the state for too long.

Wikipedia tells me that they shot Arnie's scenes in 4 days, so he probably only has a minor role.

He couldn't be featured in the official posters for the first film and only had a cameo because he was governor, there are rules against starring in Hollywood films when in office. The poster may be hyping up his involvement, but even then he could very easily have a more important role in the story.

As far as Bruce Willis, Sly wrote everyone according to what they wanted to do in the movie and it's likely Willis said "Something short and memorable." He may have more actual involvement in this film, who knows. Jean Claude Van Damme passed on the first movie because there was no script written when approached, and it's likely the reason he is in this one is because he better understood the project. It's about the actors involved and the characters they are playing, the story and even the action is superfluous.

Seeing as that flashback was set in the Vietnam era (60s/70s) and Walker Texas Ranger was a 90s show, I'm not so sure Private Rapo was making a reference to that.
