Yeah, I did back when it first came out. The animated artstyle and Bladerunner-esque world and all the Chinese mythology was definately unique back then. The game handled and plays exactly like Resident Evil did, "tank controls" and all, but the big problem was that most of the enemies you fought here could shoot back. Eventually it becomes damn near impossible to play without cheating on the last two chapters because of how cheap the game becomes with death and the scripted sequences. Didn't get to play the sequel though. I guess the reason why this franchise hasn't been revived by Eidos is because it's not well known enough, probably only a few die hard PS 1 fans still recall any of it.
It's funny how the developer for the second game tried to deny that Hana and Rain are lesbians despite all the evidence and implications to the contrary...

Yeah, I think the developer tried claiming that they were bisexual, or that they would never put labels on themselves. Of course, sexual orientation is a topic that is considered controversial. Maybe the developer was just scared that his reputation would be ruined for daring to go into such a topic.
From I have seen on Fear Effect Inferno, the bisexual part would have been confirmed on Hana and Rain. I don't know if Glas and Deke would have been considered bisexual.

Oh, Equestria, we stand on guard for thee!By the way, there is one thing I'm trying to figure out. I believe that Red Oni, Blue Oni can be applied to Rain and Mist. Does anyone have a clue as to which one qualifies as either red or blue?
Oh, Equestria, we stand on guard for thee!Fear Effect Remake titled Fear Effect Reinvented has been announced!
I must say I'm excited about this. When the first game came out and we got the anime style art and graphic adult story where the girl wants to die and is killed I thought this was going to be really good in terms of getting that Japanese style of storytelling and this Blade Runner or Ghost in the Shell style game to a mainstream audience. And when we have Tomb Raider remade and done well, we have Metal Gear Solid remade and done well, we have Crash Bandicoot remade and...we have Dead Island remade and they still have the cutscenes that skip and jump, we have Batman: Arkham Asylum remade and a great classic game for a new generation of gamers to enjoy, this is a worthy addition.

Fear Effect is a game series that I have not had the pleasure of playing. However, that has not stopped me from reading up on it, and watching You Tube clips of it.
I have to say that it was very disappointing that Fear Effect Inferno was never finished. I would have liked to know what would have happened in the plotline. There was also supposed to be a Fear Effect movie, but nothing came of it. Then again, Uwe Boll was apparently going to be the director of that, so maybe it was just as well.
Also, this is one of the few games that I know of that goes into Chinese mythology. There should be more games like that!
As anyone here played Fear Effect?
