But yeah, the first film had a good sense of weight and force in the fights, even if it wasn't exactly realistic. Just about everything else these days feels too light, be it superheroes, Bayformers, even the upcoming Power Rangers film if the latest trailer is anything to judge by... which I hope it isn't. The only other film of the 2010's I've seen with this sort of impact in its fightscenes was Battleship.
When it comes to battle choreography and machine design, someone really ought to kick the arts majors out of the storyboarding sessions, and bring in some martial artists, stuntmen, and even the occasional engineer or at least practical prop specialist. If simply shows when something is built and choreographed by these guys as opposed to comic artists and graphics designers, to the point the new Star Wars films pride themselves on bringing back practical effects.
Lack of distinction and a bit too human-looking.
Exactly my problem with the evolution of Bayformers design.
I liked them when they had plates and bits of kibble hanging on to remind you that they are mechanical, not this thing where they turn their kibble into beards or cigars or longcoats.
Yeah that's just ridiculous. They still had way too much kibble. I'd have preferred their usual elastic animated faces. I'm sure they could have found a way to make it work, if they had spent effort on that instead of Adam Sandler jokes.
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. They vomit! Why do they vomit? That's disgusting! Nobody wants to see that!
but HOW?It was sad watcing Peter Cullen giving all his gravitas and dignity to the most horrible lines ever to come out of a Prime's mouth. "GIVE ME YOUR FACE!"?!
The one good thing to come out of the films was Transformers Prime. That was a good show.
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.I honestly like the upgrades and I really hope the toyline gets a more mainstream release this time.
Also, while less pronounced, both Gypsy Danger and Striker Eureka had Vertical Mecha Fins, so this is hardly new. I'm just glad they do look different from last film; loved the original designs, but seeing how we're on at least 8th gen, it would be boring if they looked too much like last film's. I do agree with concerns on how they'll move though; the first movie went out of its way to not use motion capture to animate the robots and was all the better for it. I don't mind them being more agile and acrobatic, but I still want some sense of weight to it.
I notice the one on the right has a gun turret on the chest reminiscent of a WW 2 bomber. Wonder how big its crew will be?
I think the new Jaegers look cool too.
So wil wee get flying Jaegers?
It'd be neat if there were a Mecha Expansion Pack, like some sorta aircraft that could attach to them. I mean, after all, the original Jaegers could be lifted by a fleet of helicopters, so it's not too crazy.
...Gypsy Danger was piloted by Diego who now?
but HOW?The article's referring to Ralieigh's brother (Yancy)'s actor, Diego Klattenhoff.

Strange that he's mentioned and not Mako when she was in the movie for far longer.
Also strange that the article calls the first movie a "classic" when it's less than five years old. Shit needs to stand the test of more time than that before being termed classic.
I'd guess the original's on the way to becoming a cult classic, but even then it's too early to say.
Nah, it's pretty much already a cult classic by this point. I think by now it's fitting the criteria for cult classic status.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell? Are they piloted by one person now? That would be disappointing.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersJohn Boyega's one line in that video was easily more compelling than the entirety of his screentime in The Force Awakens. I am cautiously optimistic.
They really should keep the two-pilot system, though.
but HOW?Looks like a video game teaser.
...Is that actually GLaDOS? Voice actor and all? Maybe this is just me being suggestible, but it sounds exactly like her and Guillermo Del Toro is surely a fan.
Also GLaDOS is a Shade Elemental so she can say whatever she wants about superheroes and I'm fine with it.
I think the voice actress for Glados was in the first Pacific Rim, correct?
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?Yeah she was. In fact, she was my main interest in the movie initially.
This song needs more love.Oh yeah? I totally forgot about and/or missed that.
Physics wanted to see it play out.
