Swap with redirect: Take Off Every Zig

Can you Guess The Trope on this one? It's pretty meaningless unless you're familiar with the AYBABTU meme. Even if you do know AYBABTU, you may well miss the reference; it's part of the original AYBABTU dialog, but it's near the very end and few people know all of it by heart. Now I'm all in favor of funny trope names, but in my opinion referring to a dead horse meme does not qualify as "funny".

According to That Other Wiki, "Zig" is, among other things, a city in Azerbaijan, a 2001 film about gambling, a giant rooster, and half of several duos named "zig and zag" or some variant.

With 79 wicks and 53 inbounds, this is clearly not a healthy trope. However, it has a few serviceable redirects, such as Launch All Fighters. I'd say let's swap them.

I don't think the Zig is very important. The grammar is more likely to be a problem. Scramble All Fighters or Launch All Ships would do it just as well.

I named if after Zero Wing, not the meme. Memes don't come out of thin air, you know.

What's Zero Wing, and what does it have to do with "All Your Base"? I thought the phrase came from some game or other. Is Zero Wing a game?

Zero Wing is the game that gave us the All Your Base meme. The recent renaming of all the tropes associated with All Your Base has driven home to me that I am very, very sick of this meme.

If we're going to rename, then I think Scramble All Fighters is better than Launch All Fighters, because to scramble is the proper technical term for this sort of thing.

Yep, re-name to something less obscure ffs. Scramble All Fighters sounds good.

I'm fine with Scramble.

I'm fine with renaming as long as the reason is for clarity. Renaming just because it's a meme is not a good reason, since it implies memes are bad just for being memes, when even Eddie calls on specific memes for reasons relating to just those memes themselves.

That's what I meant by the legit arguments. That is a perfectly valid reason.

Yes I'm pretty sure the reason is that the word Zig means nothing to most people here. I thought I knew all the aircraft-related tropes but I had no idea about this one.

I like Fighter-Launching Sequence, since that's actually what the trope is. It isn't "the action of launching all the fighters," it's "when we do launch all the fighters (because we're gonna do it), we're contractually obligated to show it."

I like the current title, but as long as we keep it as a redirect I guess Scramble All Fighters is pretty good. Or All Fighters Sunny Side Up.

I support Fighter-Launching Sequence for the reasons given by USAF 713. Scramble All Fighters doesn't emphasize the "we see it happen in cool fashion" part, which is the core of the trope.

Ok wow.... 73 wicks?.... I can think of nearly that many examples than that off the top of my head I think.

Going to say though I don't like "fighters", Launch Sequence itself would be good enough as this really isn't limited to just Fighters, Real Robot uses this in nearly every show. (But Turn A Gundam) hell Nanoha StrikerS had a Magical Girl launch sequence.

Might want to copy the page to YKTTW and troll for examples for 3 days or so then integrate it into the renamed trope.

No, because when you say Launch Sequence many people will think of the countdown for the shuttle, and/or a missile launch. Fighter-Launching Sequence is to distinguish it from that, and Tropes Are Flexible. The fighters launching from carrier craft are the Trope Makers, after all, and it's a really basic name...

Launch Sequence could be a lot of things. Maybe Scramble Launch Sequence.

I don't see what the problem with Fighter Launch Sequence is - Tropes Are Flexible, after all, and given how the Real Robot has a lot in common in its associated tropes with fighters (or at least space ones), I don't think that those examples will be at risk of being left out.

Really should come up with something that doesn't make the trope feel limited or just add crap ton of redirects for those left out. Bombers, Mecha, Mecha Weapons, Monsters, Tanks, People, Etc all get this, although it's a flat out rule for Mecha to get them (rare when it doesn't happen.)

Maybe just a Mecha Launch Sequence redirect

Why? Tropes Are Flexible. Fighters are what it's usually used for, whether they be in atmosphere or in space. We can make it clear in the trope description that it's for any vehicle that could conceivably pull off the action.

I don't know if tanks could qualify, though. I guess if you were airdropping them, but...

Since there is consensus for renaming, let's put up an alt crowner.
