Krona continues to be chastised while Sydney is wacky in the background. Must be Monday.

So, is Pixel's issue that they're in a time loop or that Sydney was the one who remembers it? I've seen enough Time Travel stories to appreciate the former, and common sense makes me appreciate the latter.

Definitely the former. She's emphasizing the time loop, and besides, Krona said that Sydney only remembers because she's the one who triggered it.

Scheduled end of universe has been cancelled as Krona has no idea what the heck she's doing, but it didn't do what she thought it did. Well, that's a relief.

To be fair, this is a lot how coding process works in my experience.

"I have checked this over and over and it does only what I want"

...*code does something unexpected*

"NOT AGAIN?!"

Also, I think this is one of those cases where there's limits to what one can check in a testing environment.

Dying in an alternate timeline doesn't count as priority apparently.

Sydney levels up and those do not look like good tears in Krona's eyes. That looks more like "Oh God, it's forcing my eyes open... moisten them before they dry out!"

I was recently rereading the strip, so I remembered they have plans for the next few upgrades. Part of the Flight orb first.

Um, she's having a very enlightening moment. Transcendental, if you will. Also — intense geeking out. Tears happen when you get awesomely vast and beautiful parading in front of you.

My God, it's full of everything.

And they're not so secret... I think this does imply that the time loop is limited to the people it's applied to. Instead of rewinding time, it simply puts people back to where they were, generally with no memory of what happened. Much less powerful, but still quite useful.

Sciona is a woman? Huh.

That had been my assumption before... I honestly don't know why, because looking back at the pages, the closest we get to "feminine" is the hairbun, and that could have been a manbun, after all.

Avoiding, of course, any commentary about how biology doesn't matter, but instead how she identifies...

I was going to say it's improbable the heroes would know that since she's a bad guy, but then I remembered what universe this is in. I could totally see them being in a full-out brawl, someone calls Sconia a man, and she stops the fight to explain her gender identification.

Also, I think Krona's time loop is more complicated than just resetting the affected people. Unless Krona has barely ever used this ability at all, she should have noticed before this. My guess is Harem messed it up somehow because of her multibrain.

Boy, am I familiar with that user interface problem... menu won't dismiss itself until you make a choice. The world doesn't freeze while the menu is up...

This would be a bad time to ask for another save point so that she could save-scum for a better power, right?

^_^ I suppose that would be a valid counter-example to Krona's complaint that it makes no sense to Quicksave right before you die (again, familiar user-interface woes... Half-Life, I accidentally double-tapped Quicksave before getting shot in the gut on one level, and had to reload several times to survive the next few seconds to limp to health because that took up both slots and the autosave was way back in the level).

According to the commentary a couple pages back, Sydney leveled partly because of the time trick. So I think save-scumming wouldn't work.

Cause that would be amusingly broken.

Honestly, until I saw the commentary, I assumed that this was Meta-Sydney stuck in a menu screen and thus apparently AFK, either that or a side effect from the save point.

And were-jaguar underboob. Just saying.

Random upgrade and to the PPO orb too... maybe she will learn to shoot it through the shield. Or cupcakes.

Sometimes, you just eat the suboptimal build because you can't dismiss the skill tree until you pick, and you need your actions back now.

I think there's a slightly more than fist sized hole in the shield in the last panel so maybe that's the upgrade?
