I can't decide if I will miss Happy Meal toys if they go away, but it makes me wonder what the hell kinda toys my kids will play with if I have them.

I'm legitimately baffled trying to imagine what toys my hypothetical kids will play with, unless Mike Mozart's Youtube channel shows something cool now and then that's a current toy a child would find fun.

As an Australian, I'm guessing the "no toy with kid's meal" thing is a reaction to the over-Americanisation of our country, for twenty years we've suffered under your horrible Hollywood exports just to get the good stuff like Jurassic Park and Terminator2. It's kind of weird that my future kids might never know Happy Meals by the time I have the opportunity to spawn them (my brother is telling me the Sydney dating scene is a "seller's market" right now, heh heh) but I think I can accept this.

Our breakfast cereals are boring as hell, but on a subconscious level it encourages the Australian to be more crafty, not unlike The Road Warrior, and try and scavenge groceries to make a breakfast that consists of more than corn flakes with honey and nuts on them. We are a hardy people who have survived far worse that Happy Meal toy deprivation, hell, even I stopped being interested in Happy Meal toys at about, 12, so...

What I'm saying is what you are calling government oppression may actually be the national liberation of the Australian from the shackles of American fast food culture, go forth, Road Warriors, go to Bartertown and demand that Master Blaster builds you a fast food franchise that meets our actual needs! Oporto Chicken was only the beginning! What untold treats await us in this age of food court multiculturalism? A NEW AGE OF INTERESTING LUNCHES IS DAWNING! LONG LIVE THE FIGHTERS! IT IS THE LEGEND!

NGP: You know what, a Mad Max-themed fast food chain sounds awesome.

Especially a build your own toy buffet-thing.

Somehow, I now want a Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann themed restaurant.

The greeters would be really loud. Welcome to the Thunderdome.

You miss my point. If KFC hadn't distributed it in the first place, there wouldn't be one at all.

There technically already is an upcoming new Australian fast food chain based on the Road Warrior:

Mad MEX Tacos and Grill. Well... they got the violent frontier bandits element right...

Yeah our cereals are dull as dishwater. They just lack the mystique that you would get in the us . pick up a box of weet bixs and you have got a pretty good idea what it is made from. but what is lucky charms made from? Nobody knows.

There are Vulpex toys in a billion different forms, I'm sure. I somehow doubt that if KFC didn't have toys, they wouldn't be used as a marketing gimmick elsewhere.

Vulpix sucks anyway.

[up][up]Toyless Toyline Character. There's like, a tiny figurine, a horribly mispositioned figurine and a ridiculously expensive tiny plush from a Japan-only store chain. It's not exactly Pikachu.

I don't wanna catch 'em all, I just want Vulpix.

Yeah, but once you get Vulpix, you'll just want another one. And if Vulpix never existed in the first place, you probably wouldn't even want it! :P

KFC actually did have licensed Pokemon toys once. They were plushies. One was Vulpix.

[up][up]I already had Vulpix, and was quite satisfied with it. Which is why it saddens me that KFC will never be involved in such a promo again.

At least in Australia. Thankfully, I live in the U.S..

Oh I wish this would happen in the US..

The kids would quit screaming about going somewhere that can give them a happy meal.

I embrace this, along with the action of making restaurants put calorie counts next to their food on the menu.

THAT is a good idea. I am almost always in favor of increasing the amount of real information provided in advertising.
