Plug: my review. I think that, as a TMNT fan it's interesting because it's a rather different take. I'm not sure how much I'd recommend it, though, to someone who wasn't already a fan of the Mirage books, or the 4Kids 'toon. Still, I liked it, even as I felt it had the potential to go massively off the rails—I particularly like the idea of Krang as M. Bison, and kind of wish he was actually a human instead of an Utrom/brain thing.
F.Y.I.: I'll be creating a Wiki Talk thread about how best to create a work page for this book, given that it'd be the sixth comic book with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles title and the first one that's not attached to any other continuity. I'll post a link to the discussion once it's up.
ETA: Here it is.

Avatar art by Lorna-Ka.I've heard claims that the upcoming Nickelodeon TMNT cartoon is going to have appearances from both Karai and Lotus Blossom (from the 1987 cartoon). I wonder if they'll make appearances in this new comic.
Oh, Equestria, we stand on guard for thee!7 issues (5 main issues, one issue focusing on Raphael and another issue on Michelangelo) have come out as of this post. Can we make a page for the IDW Turtles yet?
I actually started work on one; it's stalled, but I can probably have it up by next week.
Avatar art by Lorna-Ka.After many delays, the page for the IDW incarnations of the turtles is up. Treat with love.
Avatar art by Lorna-Ka.So I take it that this comic isn't really much read one in TV Tropes? I'd be interested to hear people's opinion of it since I can't read it myself due to not living in America :P And I dunno if its available online anywhere
And it turns out IDW does sell online version of the comics, so yay! I'm able to check it out for myself

Has anyone noticed how Ross Campbell's way of drawing the Turtles looks a lot like the Turtles from the 2012 show?
Not sure if that's by coincidence or on purpose.
Either way, I really like how he draws the Turtles.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's on purpose. It certainly would be the only influence the show is having on the comic right now, since I highly suspect that the comic based its design for Metalhead on the Cartoon version and we've seen the appearance of Pigeon Pete, of all people.
^^Considering his deviantart page... I think its coincidence, his style is kinda cutesy.
oh idw tmnt is having a crossover with ghostbusters.
Wait, what?!
(Googles "teenage mutant ninja turtles ghostbusters")
Holy Ravioli, Batman! He's not kidding!
In other news, IDW's doing a comic book sequel to Edward Scissorhands? Huh, I hope Tim Burton is helping out. At least as a creative consultant or something…
I hope this isn't something like Kim's granddaughter all grown up and now SHE's all hot for Edward now. EDIT: Oh, it is, huh? Well, I'll give it a shot...
Although, I have mixed thoughts about it either way. The movie is one of the few romantic movies that made me weep like a baby. He was just... so kind...

Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the GreatWell, they haven't said that the granddaughter falls for Edward…
…Just saying.
Anyhow, wow! TMNT meets Ghostbusters! Sounds like fun on a bun!
I hope that doesn't happen. A lot of this seems aimed at giving Edward a somewhat happier ending, which frankly I think would be enough by having Edward once again welcomed by the town by the end, he doesn't need a Replacement Goldfish for Kim.
Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the GreatIs it just me, or is the Rat King one of those characters that gets a total re-interpretation for every single new incarnation of the franchise where he completely lacks a set of definitive traits other than he's a guy with some kind of rat connection?
Now that I think about it, is there a trope for that?
Ummm, probably yeah
But yeah, its kinda funny, some characters are like, people get really mad if they are radically(or even just a little bit) different from old version(Like Shredder being an alien in 2003 show), but some other characters are completely different in every adaption besides the name and nobody gives a crap

So, Ghostbusters crossover.
Eh, after the first issue, I think it's a little early to judge it.
Its still Ghostbusters cross over
And huh Mondo Gecko is now a thing, why do TMNT fans like that character anyway? He was always lame from what I've seen
Well rip in peace Donnie
There's a part of me that's certain they've got a long-term plan to bring him back at some point, especially since resurrection is already a well established part of the series, but still...
...dang.
It seems someone has already beat me at resurrecting this thread.
Anyway, wow. I still can't believe they killed off Donatello. While I also think this isn't permanent, there was still a part of me thinking "Nickelodeon was OK with this?" The way he died was pretty gruesome (sledgehammer) despite the fact they didn't show the gore (would have come off as exploitative anyway). As for the rest of issue 44, it was a nice end to the story arc.
Apparently, there's a scan of the FCBD issue showing that Donnie is alive, but in critical condition.
Weird in a Can (updated M-F)That was my second guess. They never did say if he was dead.
For those not in the know, IDW launched a brand new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series this week. It doesn't use the old continuity, and while it does have the involvement of Eastman who's co-writing the story, the script itself is being written by a new guy (though he may have written other stuff).
As of the first issue, there's a mix of origin story and jumping into the middle of the story where the Turtles have already mutated. And given the prescience of a mutant feline, I get a sense there may be a mix of elements from the all the previous sources - the original comics, the cartoons, etc. However, I don't think that it's meant to be that closely connected to the upcoming TV series.
April is an intern at Baxter Stockman's lab, where the turtles and splinter happen to be research subjects (she also names the turtles). Stockman also happens to be working for a General Krang, who we don't get much of a look at but appears to have a human form, and is trying to develop some kind of super soldier mutagen for him. While the pieces are in place, however, we don't yet know exactly how they went from 'precious' turtles and a rat to the heroes they're shown to be in the present. Where, speaking of which, Raphael appears to be out on his own for some reason (and runs into what seems to be a young Casey Jones who's being beat on by his dad, then decides to bust down the door to intervene).
LSS, they're using this reboot to their advantage to really rework various elements of the story from the beginning, and while it's possible it could all go very wrong, what they open up with is promising as well, and could very well take us on a very interesting and very different take on the infamous humanoid reptiles.
