And I agree. Even if you're familiar with the Pandora myth it's not even very clear that that's what's shown here. Not very helpful at all.
All I can think of is that one episode of Ren And Stimpy where Ren was tempted to press a button that would erase all existence just to save himself from further madness because of the Happy-Happy-Joy-Joy helmet he had strapped to him.
There has to be a screenshot of Dexter trying to stop Dee Dee from pressing a button somewhere on the internet. There just has to be. I mean, she did it constantly.
And if I claim to be a wise man, well, it surely means that I don't know. This is one of the problematic Stock Phrases. It's about the phrase itself, not the situations it can be used in.
Which means that the trope really is something else, usually Schmuck Bait or Forbidden Fruit. It's just a rephrasing of two other tropes. Virtually all of the examples on this page would fit (and should be on) one of those two. I say cut it.

...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.I tend to agree.
Here's a pic from the episode DRCEQ mentioned.
This is a purely dialogue trope. It's the use of the phrase "Don't touch it you idiot!". If it's going to have any page image, it needs to be one that has a sp4eech bubble using the phrase.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.I looked through the webcomics section, and the best one was this Pixelton strip. Even then, the "Don't touch it!" isn't immediately obvious, and it's not technically dialogue.
And if I claim to be a wise man, well, it surely means that I don't know.I looked at that earlier...I suppose we could use the bottom two smaller panels.
But that's still just a sign. Not a line of dialog. The trope as written is a line of dialog.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.^The trope is merely implied to have happened earlier.
As said in about a third of the posts above, the entirety of the trope as written is "someone saying the phrase in the title."
I'm for a cut. Should we take this to TRS?
Infinite Tree: an experimental storySo, why isn't the Image Pickin' link showing up in the trope's page header? Is there something going on that I don't know about?
Also, are stock phrases tropes? Shouldn't they just be mentioned in whatever actual trope they're related to? Wouldn't it make sense to (if anything) have a Stock Phrase Index or something?
Sorry, I'm just confused about this whole "stock phrase" thing.
1) The tag wasn't on the page becasue the link in the thread title was to a redirect.
2) A Stock Phrase is not usually a trope itself. It's either commonly used in conjunction with a trope or set of tropes, or it's a flag the a trope or set of tropes is about to come into play.
3) We have a Stock Phrases index, but too many of them are not really tropes, they're just lists of works that use the phrase, regardless of if the associated trope(s) is also used.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Clock is set.
I can't believe I didn't think of this when I set the clock...I'll hit the snooze to give time for votes.
Motion to pull
Pic doesn't demonstrate the trope.
Bump...anyone else for/against the motion?
I'm guessing that this is Pandora and her box, but I had to know about the myth and even then it doesn't look especially boxy.
How about this Epic Battle Fantasy image for something more demonstrative?
Edit: Sorry for messed up title.
